To use bleach?

I've just mopped the kitchen floor and used a squirt of bleach in hot water. I know when my husband gets up he's going to make a weird throaty sound and complain about the burning of his throat (it's not that strong but you can smell it)

I've always used bleach, not much, just a drop, as that's what my mum always did. Is there anything better I should use or is bleach best?

I just use it once a week in the loos and every other week on the kitchen floor

I have tiles , boiling water, small squirt of bleach and flash
leave back door open to air ( only a bit or the squirrels come in) dries very quick

Hot water denatures bleach, so it’s pointless using it unless you mop with cold water.

Well bugger me, I didn't know that!!

Procedures of Preparing/Using Diluted Bleach

Put on protective gear when diluting or using bleach as it irritates mucous membranes, the skin and the airway. Cold water should be used for dilution as hot water decomposes the active ingredient of bleach and renders it ineffective.

Flash leaves a residue which will show up on your floor over time

You could try Zoflora or other disinfectant

Plain bleach has its place. It isn't really bad for the environment because it reacts so swiftly to form salt and water.

But I'd only use it to kill germs and mould and to whiten stains: I don't know why you'd want to use it on the floor
unless you had floor tiles whose grout needed cleaning.

Only use bleach on the toilet, squirt of the thick stuff inside, put the lid down, clean rest of the bathroom then go back and clean the toilet.

Floors method floor cleaner, almond with a swiffer thing for hardwood floors and the rhubarb with hot water for the tiles

I use Cilit Bang Bleach and Hygiene for grout and I've tried a lot of others. It's very potent though and you need ventilation

Thank you 😊.

I will give it a miss as I really hate the fumes. I frightened myself a few years ago when scrubbing with bleach, so can only use fairy and disinfectant which does nothing for the grout

I'm not a fan either but it's the only thing I've found that works. But! An alternative is you can buy Grout Paint Pens and you don't need to do any prep work first 😊

I love bleach as my clothes will tell you, they all have bleach splashes on them. To really lift the dirt from your floor use really hot water with denture tablets in then when dry mop again with cold water.

Hot water and the bicarbonate flash, smells lovely

It does

TooningOut · 11/01/2024 13:06

@spanishviola yes I know that. The point I was making is that Milton smells differently to domestos or other 'pure bleach' products but will disinfect/clean in the same way bleach does.

I’ve used Milton i and it smells like diluted bleach. It’s just more expensive.

There's not a real environmental issue with bleach which is hydrogen and oxygen. Some have added scents etc which you could always choose differently.

Try white viniger on mould.
