Agree it's very annoying.

12 April is still some way off though.

PersonalClown · 17/03/2008 17:02

It isn't that hard.
I have to say it quite a lot now as DS is lovely and sociable (when I don't want to maim him) but freaks at gatherings of more than 10 people or so.

Send choccy my way bunny!! I can eat it again on Sunday!

It drives me mad when people do this. The little boy I used to childmind had a party last year and invited 20 people. They had a months notice but only 10 people bothered to reply and let them know if they were coming (it was in the summer hols so his mum wasn't able to chase them up iykwim). On the day of his party only 5 turned up. He seemed quite happy but they'd had to cater for more just in case.

Coca · 17/03/2008 17:09

we ended up catering for 24 including bastard party bags and in the end 8 turned up.

Coca · 17/03/2008 17:10

and we paid extra for a larger room.

Taweret · 17/03/2008 17:10

I always used to put 'please RSVP by (date)', and if we didn't hear one way or the other, I assumed they weren't coming.

It is annoying, especially when you need numbers for catering.

sophiebbb · 17/03/2008 17:11

A more annoying thing is when they say yes and then don't turn up....

SwimmingPool · 17/03/2008 17:15

Totally agree - three didn't turn up last week, when I had chased them for a reply, they said - yes, looking forward to it. Then no show, and then no apology either the next morning at school! It is just basic manners.

Kitti · 17/03/2008 17:51

The thing is everyone I speak to seems to get annoyed by this yet every birthday invite is a nightmare with me having to chase virtually everyone up and having at least 2 or 3 say yes and then not turn up. Why is it so many mothers just don't respond??

2shoesistheeasterbunny · 17/03/2008 18:18

how odd
were you all sending vibes
I just had an email from one..she can't come
still we have the respite kids 4 dc's and 4 carers. plus 3 freinds and little girl from down the raod.and ds's 2 mates so far. oh and family freind.
so looking ok I have hired a hall cos of the wheelchairs.

2shoes, I am the same, have got DS1's party tomorrow, have got 4 kids who I don't know if they are coming or not, also 2 that when asked didn't really comit, but didn't say no either....

When I booked the party, the manager of the place said just bring kids and a cake, we'll do the rest. He was lying through his arse.
