Has anyone ever just turned up to a GP’s office because they can’t get them on the phone for an aopointment

Posting here for traffic. Sorry.

Just that really.

DS needs an appointment quite badly. Certainly can’t send him back to nursery until we know what’s going on. He’s 3. Can never get through on the phone in time for an appointment. They always say phone 111 if we get through later as they are ‘full’.

Don’t want to be an arsehole so wondered if turning up as they open was a reasonable thing to do.

I do this sometimes and often get an appt. Don't really care if it's seen as bad form, my DC is so young I'm not risking it

Depends on your GP but definitely worth a try, even if you just know for next time.
I just changed GP for first time. Had initial check up with nurse who was amazing. She advised it's best to turn up at 8am to request an appointment (I didn't ask, seemed a standard thing there though) and I did that this morning, there were five of us waiting at 8am, we all got call backs from GP, who would've arranged face to face appointment if.necessary.

That's how we make our appts here,we can go at 8am when the surgery opens and book an appt in person.

Same with ours - it's very, very rare you get through to them on the phone at 8am. Can't make appointments in advance either, only for that day

I just tried to log in to the klinik system but as with the last two times, it is temporarily disabled.

Ours won't book appointments at reception, you juts get directed to the phone line.

I remember a few summers ago having an enormous horsefly bite on my back, I called into the surgery in the afternoon, the waiting room was empty but I was told to go home, phone in and book a phone consultation with the doctor. When she called me and we talked about it she said Come down to the surgery now so I can see how inflamed it is.

As my OH said, I should have phoned from the car park to save another journey!
