AIBU to polish my baubles ?

Before you pack your tree and decorations away - do you polish/wipe them all down ?

I do this every year but it is time consuming . My tree has only been up for three weeks . It’s real so gets thrown out but the decorations all get kept . And when I did have a fake tree I would hoover it before putting it away .

AIBU - to polish them all?

If you're quite happy doing that, then keep doing it. If you're resenting the time it took you then stop.
Personally I resent the time it takes to dust the house so I certainly won't be dusting baubles, tinsel or fairy lights.

I actually washed the tree baubles in soapy water when we took the tree down last year...

... but that's because we didn't take it down until August!😳

Fuck me, no!! I've never polished a bauble or hoovered a Christmas tree in my life and won't be starting now.

Do you really like making work for yourself unnecessarily like that? 🤣

People hoover Christmas trees???? Really? Do men do this too, or is it just women creating extra work for themselves?

Oh help yet another failing of mine ! I’ve never polished my baubles nor hoovered the tinsel, it has never crossed my mind that I should be!
But then I have a toilet brush , and wear my shoes in the house so there’s clearly no hope for me ..

Me neither.

Do you think men think about things like this?

Please tell us more about it!
Why you kept it up for so long? And why you took it down ? Is it to polish the baubles?

My poor fairy has never had a wipe down in about 25 years of use! I am beginning to feel a bit bad about that now. Her arm dropped off a few years ago. I wonder if that was some kind of protest?

😂😂😂😂😂

Mine are very fragile glass dating anywhere between 35 and 55 years old. I am scared to just hang them let alone polish them😶

Vicliz24 · 03/01/2024 18:43

Never . And I never will . Ever . Some of mine are over 30 years old and I still haven't noticed them being dirty . It's taken me 8 hours today on my only day until next Wednesday to get them all down and away . I don't have enough life left to clean them .

Thedogscollar · 03/01/2024 18:45

Life is too short for bauble polishing.

dickdarstardlymuttley · 03/01/2024 18:54

My OCD mother and sister in law do this. They both live in sterile houses. They don't work and only speak of cleaning, tidying and making things 'nice'. Life is too short x
