So we have a team day every Tuesday and before Xmas I specifically asked on the team chat was Jan 2nd a team day or could we wfh. Oh no it was def a team today: so we are all in today except... yep the managers are wfh. Team meetings cancelled. Is there any need for us all to be in . No. It's not the first time it happened . Nobody else has kids . I would really have appreciated wfh today . Ah well. Just have to suck it up. Am so annoyed tho:

A bit annoying, yes, but not the end of the world

I used to hate this sort of thing. Then again, working from home is a benefit and not a right, so it is what it is.

Daphnis156 · 02/01/2024 13:14

It's typical behaviour from managers- wrong information given, with no care for the effect on others.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/01/2024 13:24

I was a manager and I consider that to be really poor behaviour. How to motivate your team!

forcedfun · 02/01/2024 13:25

Bad behaviour from your managers definitely

HateMyRubbishBoss · 02/01/2024 13:28

Shite behaviour !

zero consideration for others irrespective if wfh is a right or not

my boss exactly the same hence my username

That's very poor from management unless something has happened that means they have to wfh.

For example if there's some deliverables need submitting, and the manager reviewed a draft which wasn't strong enough, they might have chosen to put the hours in working on it rather than commuting, to hit a deadline. That's happened to me before. However, they should say, so the team knows.

Brefugee · 02/01/2024 13:34

that's very poor form and i would expect the meeting to go ahead as a hybrid meeting.

It is poor management skills. And in that position i usually let them know what i think in a subtle way that can't backfire on me.

I’d be happy to be out of the house tbh. I’d be getting much more done at the office!

WhatACluster · 02/01/2024 13:38

All of the managers I work with are off till Thursday

some important work came in today and guess who’s having to deal with it?!? I can tell you it’s not a fucking manager…

ManateeFair · 02/01/2024 13:45

Yes, it's shitty behaviour from managers. One rule for them, another rule for everyone else. It's unfair and it's demotivating for their teams.

Ceci03 · 02/01/2024 14:19

I wish my team were more vocal. They will all complain in private but nobody says anything. I would happily say something but I'm the only one who ever does so my NYR is to keep my mouth shut. But then nothing will change. And they will go on doing it. I wouldn't mind but I specifically asked was it a team day today: I mean if people want to come in then no worries but I have kids at home and would prefer to save the 2 hour commute and also I'm in Thurs and Fri so would have really helped me to wfh today. Am tempted to take a days leave but it's just to save me coming in

I'm a manager and I would never do that to my team.
