To be upset by people flaking on plans?

The last few days - we organised a small at home NYE for 8 friends yesterday, including kids. One family just failed to turn up, didn’t respond to messages asking how they were getting on etc and still haven’t heard from them.

Today we’ve got an early supper planned with family, one of which is over from abroad and flies back tomorrow, he’s just messaged to say he’s not coming because he’s going to see a friend in London instead. It’s really upset my DC who adore him and were looking forward to seeing him.

I know it’s a busy period and people’s plans change, maybe I’m just exhausted from all the festivities and taking it to heart too much.

Had this the other week.

Mum friend asked on Monday if we our kids were free for a playdate 'at the weekend'. I said yes, great, what day and what time??

Radio silence.

Saturday morning she texts me, are you going to the ice rink today? I said yes.... we are. Great, see you there she said. Confused

Saw her there. Her child says to me, oh, are your kids coming to mine after skating for a playdate??

Er, I dunno?!?!

So we ended up saying great, playdate it is then.

But she didn't mention that A. DH and I were expected to stay there, and B. We were invited for lunch too.

Just so annoying

sorry we were with other friends and lost track of time, couldn’t believe it was 11pm ha ha’

Bloody hell! That’s awful. I wouldn’t be inviting them anywhere again in a hurry. So rude.
