Calm me down - Diet Coke in pregnancy

I happened across an article earlier that said aspartame in pregnancy massively raises the risk of development problems in baby boys (specifically autism). I had loads in pregnancy, I had HG and it was all I could keep down at one time, and this research hadn’t come out then. I’m a worrier anyway and am now panicking about my 9 month old. Looking for ‘I drank it every day and my sons are fine’ stories Sad

Correlation isn’t causation. in such a tiny research sample I bet there’s loads of other innocuous things that would revise correlation to one or another trait in the sample group

Currently pregnant with baby 7. All of mine have diet coke flowing through their veins. No developmental problems at all. Diet coke was the only thing to help my sickness and even the doctor agreed that it was better than drinking nothing.

Thank you everyone

I drank it with both mine, youngest would have been diagnosed with ADHD if he'd been a child today. However we all lived with it and he now has a degree, masters and I'd happily married with 3 children.

I doubt if aspartame has been linked with this as there are safety checks and a vocal anti aspartame group (probably paid by the sugar producers)

I drank at least a can a day for my entire pregnancy and my 3yo is absolutely grand, miles ahead on all his milestones.

You would need to drink A LOT for it to be a concern!

Just to clarify to a few posters who think miles ahead means they arent autistic. It doesnt rule it out. They can even have advanced speech and reading and maths etc.
