am I being unreasonable in thinking that there is sugar in literally everything including savoury foods ? im just under 7 stone and I’m 22 so quite under weight , I’m wanting to cut down on sugar for health not for the likes of gaining weight (I’m weight training with a trainer , I’m trying to gain weight!) but they tell u sugar is very bad for you but put it in everything ? What am I meant to eat considering I’m trying to put on weight and need to eat well over 2300cals if not more a day. But I’m finding it hard as anything savoury has some form of hidden sugar . tips ? Suggestions ? What foods are healthy , with no additives, hidden sugars that will help me gain weight !

Surely you are just trying to avoid refined sugars?

So protein (meat, fish, cheese), veg, fruit is all ok? Rice, pasta etc will not have added sugar.

Why do you think you need to completely avoid all sugar? Unless there's a serious medical issue you haven't mentioned, if you minimise processed and obviously sugary foods and generally eat healthily, the sugars you'll have in your diet won't be a problem.

I've just googled how to gain weight without eating sugar. I think it's a website for diabetics. It recommends meat, fish, legumes, nuts, eggs and full cream dairy foods.

Giving up sugar COMPLETELY is a huge lifestyle choice, but giving up 'sugary things' is often referred to as giving up sugar and is of great benefit. So giving up fizzy drinks, chocolate, sweets, desserts, cereal bars etc.

Just eat proper food. Meat, fish, veg, dairy, nuts, legumes, animal fats and olive oil. Look at the Mediterranean diet. Sugar isn't bad. It's the other crap that they put with it in processed food. If you eat properly, your body will tell you what you need and you shouldn't need to worry about calorie counting.
