I’m just looking for advice. I rent a 2 bed ground floor flat from a Housing association. The flats got issues with mould and has an adapted bathroom which they’ve said they’ll do up but won’t ever replace to a standard bathroom which is fine. However, the rest of the flat is adapted, I didn’t know this when I moved in it. I’ve got no worktops, 5 kitchen cupboards and 2 damp and mould infested pantries that aren’t fit for use. The units and worktops have been lowered and half have been removed to create accessibility counters, which are unusable when standing.

There is literally no room since the adaptations have been carried out.
I am desperate to get out of here, I feel like I’m living in a mouldy shoe box. I’m on the mutual exchange but no one seems to want flats despite this one being in a “desirable area”

I can’t really afford private rented, but I’m so desperate I’m on the verge of paying £1300+ in rent.
Plus, I want this flat to be given someone who’d make use of the adaptations.

Is there any way to move without it being an exchange or private rented? Like a managed move? Plus according to the housing due to the adaptations I shouldn’t have even been offered this flat.

I would imagine an exchange would be the easiest..many disabled people might be glad of an adapted home.
