In short is it unreasonable to be offended and hurt to see gifts you gave for xmas for sale on online or is it a case of once its yours you can do what you like . without any ask for receipt or explanation as to why they are not suitable. just trying to work out if I am overly sensitive !

I'd let it go, just because you like things doesn't mean everyone does. I received an expensive bottle of perfume and the second I opened it I knew I wouldn't wear it so gave it straight away to a family member.....its harsh but I'd never want to offend the gifter.

I've had a few gifts from my MIL who is an awful person. I want to tell her that her gifts are wholly unsuitable but my DH wont let me. And to be honest he is right, it won't achieve anything apart from more bad blood.

Therefore I can understand why you haven't been told that the gifts you bought are up for sale. They are trying to save face and I'd just get over it. It is sensitive to react.

I’ve sent gifts straight to the charity shop because I don’t want them.
Ive also told the person who got me them that I don’t want anything, and been ignored. Some people on MN will say I’m ungrateful, some will say my request should be adhered to.
The fact is, you can’t win.
