What do you think your life and the world will look like by this time next year?

Just wondering really. We didn't buy property this year, as prices are still so high and nothing we loved coming on the market. Whereas I'd have thought we would have found something suitable by now. I wonder if we will still be in our rental apartment this time next year? It's lovely but very small. Our rent is well below market but going up over a hundred quid on 1st January.

I'm wondering if things will become more and more unsteady in global politics and what that will mean for everyone - how it will affect economies? What about food security in countries most affected by the climate?

How do you think things will be in a year's time?

I hope to be in a new long, long term home and have a promotion at work... 2023 wasn't great for a few reasons. People we loved got very ill, and my mental health plummeted. I am going into this year feeling positive as we are putting our house on the market next week. It's been a great first home. We have done it up beautifully, and I love the thought of a first-time buyer loving it as much as us. I feel a lot of anxiety about selling and upsizing because of the cost of living, but we are lucky to have the means to do so. I think by this time next year, things may start to feel easier for people economically. I worry terribly about the climate and the planet, though. We try to grow our own veg, but it was a terrible harvest this year, and with all these storms, I worry about fences, roof tiles, etc.

Honestly hoping it’s got easier

We’ve got the house that Jack built so all our savings went onto our bills going up by £400 a month. Hopefully going to be steadying my hours (on a zero hour contract) so we can cover the extra £400, drop our debt and put some money back into savings. The childcare in April will help towards this

Then we hope we will be able to start saving a bit so we can get our forever home (living in optimism!)

Didn't see these replies to my thread!

Interesting that housing costs is a feature for the three of us, it's just such a big financial issue for most people isn't it. Unless you bought years ago before prices went crazy.

We were so lucky with ours. We sold our house just over 2 years ago as we wanted a 3 bed. Luckily got more for ours than we bought it for and got a 3 bed before the prices went really high! But when we bought it we knew it wouldn’t be our forever home either! Glad we moved when we did though

We sold our uk home 18 months ago and I’m glad we did. Feel so sorry for all those having to deal with this market, especially FTB.

I do fear for the world and climate. I try and remain optimistic though.

Personally I hope by next year I’ve finished this course (need to get off mn and finish it!) and that we’ve moved back to continental Europe and dc are happily settled in their new schools and I have a house to decorate. And a garden to grow stuff which is something I love doing.
