To think putting raw meat packaging in dishwasher is crazy?!!

We went to stay with family this Christmas. Whilst emptying the dishwasher I noticed an empty bacon packet and mentioned it thinking it had just fallen in by accident. Turns out no…. They put all plastic packets including from raw meat through dishwasher before recycling it. Is that thing?! Is it just me that thinks it is a huge Health hazard? On one occasion I opened it and there were three empty packets up with all the cups. Im really interested to know what other people think.

not crazy at all imo.
we do that to avoid stinky things in the recycling bin.

I always do this with raw meat packaging. I manage my own recycling drop off, don't have collection, so anything likely to smell will go through the dishwasher.

It also reduces some packages, like fish packaging, greatly in size which is helpful when managing your own recycling

Dear oh dear. Health hazard in what way?

Completely unnecessary though, I just chuck stuff in the recycling

nit something I would do But I’m sure it’s safe. I rinse it spray with kitchen spray and rinse again

I have a small marble chopping board for meat/fish I wash by hand and the knife used

Kind of defeats the environmental point of recycling if they are wasting electricity and water washing it.

A rinse in the sink will suffice

I just chuck it on the top of all the other stuff, don't run a wash esp for the recycling
