My daughter started reception in September and today I was searching her hair and found a lice!! Found 4 baby ones. Can’t see any other with my eyes and gone through with the comb and only found empty eggs. Is it possible that’s them all? Or is it probably more?! Please help with tips of how to sort this!!!

Wet comb with conditioner, get a nitty gritty comb and do it every day for a week or two.

The problem with the conditioner method is that you will be sending her back to school with lice and she will possibly past them on and then get them back.

Buy a newer product that actually kills then (not one of the older ones that they are immune to), so that it’s a one off (or possibly two) treatment and that’s it.

Check or treat everyone and wash everything the head has been in contact with - bedding, car seats, hats, coats etc.

We've had the most success with the nit not oil - a lot of combing, and you have to do it twice, but it's oil, so it's not smelly and it doesn't sting.

Also from now on wash your daughter's hair in a tea tree oil shampoo. Nits don't like it

Highly recommend using vosene my daughter had very long hair but thankfully only had once in 7 yes. I used conditioner and a nit comb only found them one day next days nothing there. Used to check regularly. you might have got them all if you caught them early! I would just repeat daily for next few days!

Definitely get a full on headex type treatment from the pharmacy. Doesn't always work but I personally wouldn't be relying on conditioner and a nit comb.

Pop to the pharmacy and get some advice.

Hedrin Once from the pharmacy and repeat in 6 days, thoroughly combing each time. Then rinse with a diluted dettol solution and leave it in. Don’t rinse out the dettol solution! Game changer.

NHS website has info on what days to use the nit comb to be sure to be rid of them. We all had them once and took a week or so of combing but that was all we needed to get rid of them. Keep combing and check everyone in the house

We used the Headrin Once, worked brilliantly, the lice were falling off dying as I was applying it to DS hair.

Conditioner and combing weren't an option for us, though I've been running the toothcomb through every few days as I'm paranoid about headlice now.

Hot wash for all bedding, towels etc. Anything that couldn't be hot washed (cuddly toys etc.) was bagged and put in the freezer for a day.
