Dilemma

Hello folks

I live in a big city in an end terrace house.it’s a housing association and I pay £400 per month . The area is now plagued by homeless people who pass through , vomiting and doing faecal matter on the streets . My child was once unfortunate to step on human faeces before . The house is big and near one one of my children’s school . I have identified beautiful built to rent houses for £1000 per month slightly out of area , 20 minutes from where I live . Both my kids are on the spectrum.
My dilemma is if I move area , one of childrens buses(special school) will be stopped due to out of area , and I have to drive him to and from school . And it also means my other child who struggles with changes will have to travel 20 minutes to and from school . I have a job that pays fine but I am unable to do a mortgage at present due to rates , fixing credit report and deposit .
may I pick brains on what would be a better compromise here ? Area or inconvenience of travel And the rent increase ? Thank you all in advance

That's a big rent increase on top of the cost of transport. I don't think I'd do it.

The transport should take your child to the neatest suitable school that meets needs, so unless you're moving closer to another specialist school? than transport should stay in place.

BettyBakesCakes · 27/12/2023 11:01

That should say another specialist school who can meet needs.

I think you’d be mad to move despite the area you’re in now - sorry x

Another one to say you'd be mad, I live in a HA property and for awhile it was awful. Homeless people hanging around, a big county line operation in one of the properties plus a lot of anti social behaviour. I didn't once think of giving it up as it's my security for life.
It's now completely different, none of the above and it's a really peaceful area to live in. We had to work with the local authority's to get it this way, but it can be done.

Speak to the local councillors about the problems.
