To warn you that Raspberry and Cream Lindor taste like worming medicine from the 1980s

Received some of these ‘delicious’ treats from my SiL.

Just one bite in, and torturous memories of being forced to drink vile raspberry flavoured unctuous liquid came flooding back.

PRIPSEN!

Thankfully it appears that this cruel concoction is no longer available

Should I eat some more chocs just to double check my visceral reaction, or just swiftly more on to the Hotel Chocolat selection?

Pripsen was raspberry. Vile. Vile. Vile.
It was effective though.
Ovex starves the wee fuckers but can take a few doses.
Pripsen did the job.
Always reminds me of IACGMOOH drinks challenge when they hold their noses and chug it in one go!

CornishGem1975 · 27/12/2023 18:39

But seriously. Mum of three here. Are worms still a thing?! Never needed medicine and my eldest is 18!

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 27/12/2023 18:47

I think kids are living more sanitised lives these days.
Gardens are astroturf, playgrounds have the soft surface, there’s less time outdoors unsupervised, grubbing about in the dirt and then putting fingers in mouth/eating the food that we took out so we didn’t need to go home for hours.
So fewer kids are getting worms.

But yes, it was gross tasting!

liveforsummer · 27/12/2023 18:51

Dd now 14 had worms aged 3. I remember googling it at the time and discovering that something like 70% of dc actually have them at any one time. A huge number being asymptomatic. This was obviously well pre covid so hopefully hand hygiene has improved those odds 🤢.

One of my early memories was having to drink that stuff. I remember deliberately knocking it in to the sink and being so relieved of got rid of it, only to be presented with a fresh cup 🥴

Keiki · 27/12/2023 18:52

Not sure I remember it being raspberry flavoured but I do remember throwing it straight back up and my mum having to get me something else. Thanks for the warning!

MistletoeandMoccasins · 27/12/2023 23:00

Are worms still a thing?!
In UK primary schools still very much a thing, same as headlice.
The government should have taken advantage of lockdown and sent all families hedrin and ovex to rid the UK of them forever until people travelled again
You've either been very lucky indeed, your schools had amazing deep cleaners who also did door handles/taps and no playdo or you're asymptomatic spreaders! Xmas Wink

TheaBrandt · 27/12/2023 23:02

Trigger warning required op!! I have a strong stomach and have never been a fussy eater but dear god that stuff was vile. Was hard not to gag when drinking it.

Lilyhatesjaz · 27/12/2023 23:07

I have never had the worming medicine, but I do have a box of raspberry lindor and I can confirm they are delicious, I just tried a strawberry one for comparison and they are just as good.

AuntyLouLou123 · 27/12/2023 11:20

I hate bananas/banana flavoured anything cause of antibiotic medication as a kid 😩

Yes! Given the vile stuff when I had earache aged about 3 and have never forgotten it.

TheaBrandt · 27/12/2023 23:10

If you had had the worming medicine you would not hold that view. I actually feel sick recalling it. It also gave you diahorrea.

Pripsen · 27/12/2023 23:12

I am assuming @Lilyhatesjaz that the only reason you find them delicious is because you haven’t had Pripsen before! I’m ok with raspberry flavours generally, even other raspberry chocolates, but there is something wrong about these ones

QueenOfMOHO · 27/12/2023 23:17

It wasn't just the taste of pripsen either, it was the sheer quantity of it. I'm sure it was a mug full.

PandaG · 27/12/2023 23:17

I love raspberries, but anything raspberry flavoured I cannot stand. Takes me straight back to that disgusting powder, diluted in milk if I remember correctly, or maybe just pinkish milk in consistency perhaps. Utterly disgusting.

headache · 27/12/2023 23:19

I bought these for DD3 she loves them

CheshireDing · 27/12/2023 23:19

I am a child of the 80’s and this is the first I have heard of children being wormed !

Sounds horrendous (as I wonder off living my best life maybe innocently spreading worm)

TheaBrandt · 27/12/2023 23:20

I remember it being grainy in texture and it concentrated at the bottom of the glass but you had to swallow it down. Was like a bizarre horrific family drinking game. We were allowed to watch dynasty afterwards as a treat to take our minds off it.

TrumpetOfTheMatriarchy · 27/12/2023 23:22

I threw it straight back up again in one reflex. Awful, awful stuff. Worms still an issue. Embarrassing ly, I was the one that caught them last year. Treatment is now much more palatable.

BananaSplitsss · 27/12/2023 23:24

Aaah man. I actually spewed as a child after being given this vile stuff. Even now it makes me gag just the thought of it 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

LizzieFromTheForest · 27/12/2023 23:24

OMG I remember Pripsen! 😆 Vile!

Mistressofnone · 27/12/2023 23:25

I have post pripson stress disorder too! Actually didn't know the name of it but I remember having to down a cup before we set off for a 99p day trip to France with P&O.

I cried trying to finish it and even more during the choppy crossing when the taste was haunting me.

I still say to my mum it's the worst thing I ever tasted. I can picture the pink froth on top. 🤢

Worms were very prevalent in thumbsuckers. Maybe there are fewer of those now.

BluebellsareBlue · 27/12/2023 23:26

Noooooooo!! Not the pripsen!!!!!

GreatOak · 27/12/2023 23:28

Oh dear Lord PRIPSEN!!! 🤢🤢🤮🤮

Thanks for the warning OP. I have no wish to relive that horrific experience ever, ever again, in this life or the next.

Libre2 · 27/12/2023 23:30

Bleurgh - flashbacks! My dad used to like it and say he didn't understand what the fuss was about from the rest of us.

elvislives2012 · 27/12/2023 23:31

OMG! I have vivid memories of my brother vomiting it out of his nose 🤮🤮🤮 worst thing ever. I was secretly gutted when I discovered that my kids got away with a tablet 🤣 rite of passage!

Needhelpsupport · 27/12/2023 23:34

I received a similar concoction in my secret Santa…absolutely revolting and am secretly pissed off …cannot believe that anyone would buy that shit ..they must hate me !!
