To think Hannah and Tina were as pretty as Rachel (S Club)

Really random but I’ve always thought this, an S Club song came up on my shuffle recently and was making me wonder if anyone else thought the same. Rachel Stevens was attractive but I never really got why she was treated as the sex bomb of the group and the other girls ignored? Facially I would have said Hannah was the conventionally prettiest, was it just that she had more of a beanpole figure/children’s TV presenter energy and Rachel was a bit more sultry so the men’s mags focused on her? Personally I actually thought Tina was the most striking, especially early on with the straight black bob.

Seeing what they look like now I'd say that Tina is the prettiest, she's got better with age. Rachel looks the same really.
Hannah I'd say a is a bit less cute now.

Most boys I knew at the time thought Hannah was the prettiest.

I remember finding it odd Rachel from friends was the sex symbol when I thought Monica was beautiful.

There are women who straight women think are beautiful beyond words who just leave the rest of us cold (Gwen Paltrow, Kate Middleton) they just don't look like they'd be very adventurous.

It’s only here & the DM that KM is beautiful & I don’t see it with GP but I agree they aren’t remotely sexy, I don’t think you have to be gay to see that! Monica Bellucci, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Beyoncé etc are beautiful & sexy.

Turn of the millennium make up and hair did not suit Tina's features and colouring. Rachel was a bit more of a blank canvas so it did suit her. Both are total babes as I still love them both to this day. Tina is super-beautiful and 2023 styling suits her much more than whatever monstrosities we were painting our faces with 25 years ago!

I remember having a copy of FHM and a copy of Glamour side by side (don't ask) in maybe 2009, Rachel Stevens had a multi page spread in both and it was crazy how the FHM photoshoppers made her look super voluptuous, where the Glamour ones took away any hint of curve she had.

Tina was the best looking by current standards but at the time the whole Rachel from Friends look was in and Rachel in S Club fit it to a tee.

I think a lot of it is trends- Tina was beautiful but quite pale iirc and being tanned was very much the standard for “hot girls” at the time

As a straight woman, I think all the girls are beautiful in different ways. My favourite member was Hannah though! (I also liked baby spice, perhaps I have a type)

I’m a non-straight woman and I’ve always thought KM is hot, though I wish she’d give herself permission to weigh a bit more. She was adventurous enough to strut down a runway in a see-through dress in her uni days, though personally ‘adventurous’ isn’t what determines whether I find someone sexy anyway.

Give it a rest. Jo was objectively less attractive than the other three, just as she was also objectively a better singer. Them's the breaks.

I don't understand people who say Kate is beautiful. She just isn't, nowhere near it. Gwyneth was actually very striking when she was a lot younger, she was stunning as Margot Tenenbaum and in most of her roles in the early aughts. She has aged poorly because she undereats and it shows in her skin and hair.

Beauty and our perception of beauty is so fascinating and it really is in the eye of the beholder.

My younger self had an extremely intense crush on Hannah. I was completely captivated by her and thought she was the best 😍

Jo is attractive and always was. She was just 'marketed' as the serious singer and that was that. No bad thing to have that much talent.

To be honest, whilst I think she should get chance to redeem and fulfil herself in life after the BB incident, after her behaviour I wouldn't particularly feel like praising her beauty in detail when I've never met her and don't know whether she still holds those values (I'm sure she has reflected a lot in the interim years). The other women haven't done anything like that I'm aware of so I'm happy to muse on it idly

I was waiting for Charlize theron to come up. She is someone I don't get. Pretty/Hollywood beautiful, yes. The most beautiful woman I've ever seen, definitely not.

I have the same feelings about Scarlett Johansson.

I agree with Hannah and Tina being just as pretty as Rachel. But also that Rachel was a better fit/better marketed for popular tastes at the time.

They were all given a look, as the Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, and so on were. They were all decent looking women but Jo was the best singer.

Really not getting this. I haven't seen anyone "judging" anyone on this thread. Virtually all posts in agreement that all girls were/are lovely but marketed in different ways. As for the comment to the OP about "who are you to judge", yes she can judge who she finds most attractive.

She wasn't hideous, but it is a stretch to say she was 'attractive'. The other three girls were all attractive (none of the boys really were imo, although there was something very sweet about Bradley) but Jo wasn't really. She was undoubtedly the best singer, though.

I met Hannah before S Club started, seemed someone with ambitions, and hope that she feels a sense of fulfilment.

I think they were all about the same level of 'pretty' in different ways and put together that way in order to appeal to the largest number of people. Then yes, the initial reaction from the public shaped ongoing presentation.

Took my daughter to see S Club back in the day. We had comp tickets courtesy of a friend who worked on a range of tours. Apparently they had a lighting spot guy who's job it was to train a spotlight on Rachel's bottom throughout the show.

@Sallybegood but generally we find things attractive that we associate with being turned on and pleasured, such as big hands, strong arms, long hair, long fingernails,big lips... that's just biology. Kate Middleton does not look like she would have the energy to be a good shag, nor does she seem like she would let go enough to really enjoy it. She looks great in clothes which cost more than my car, but I would argue she's not sexy in the way Scarlett Johnson or Rihanna are

I dunno, I just don’t really assume I know much about what celebrities are actually like behind closed doors from the curated 3 minutes they show us in public, particularly not KM as there is so much at stake for her in retaining a significant measure of privacy. I’m also fine with her not having big hands, and I think you’ll find most women who have sex with women don’t view long nails as an asset, for obvious reasons. YMMV.
