To believe I should have a clue how to do make up by 50?

Sorry this is a shameless repost from beauty as it got no responses. Please can anyone recommend a few make up essentials I need now that I've hit 50 and my make up/beauty collection is so completely and utterly random. I don't have a system or ritual for make up and feel a bit lost. What are the basics that you can't live without? I'm thinking skin care, foundation, concealer, blusher kind of thing. Happy to pay for good quality products.

I’m 45- I’ve just rediscovered boots no 7 again after a few years of dabbling with more expensive brands. My skin (particularly their foundation) has not looked as good in last 8 years.

And CLARINS face oil. I bloody love that stuff as a base/ primer 10min before I put on my makeup.

I am 50 and went for a makeup lesson recently. I have never worn much so felt like I needed some guidance.

I was worried about feeling stupid but I didn't at all.

@Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky where did you find the person who gave you a lesson? Did you just google?

A friend recommended Bobbi Brown so I just booked online at one of their concession's.

They do different sessions - I just did the everyday makeup one.

Erborian cc cream is nice & I like by Terry hyaluronic powder. You can mix a drop of facial oil In with your foundation for a dewy look.

I'd recommend getting your colours 'done' which helps with choosing makeup shades too.

Going to check out some of these recs thanks!

So for anyone still here.. I booked myself in at Charlotte Tilbury today and oh my god. Completely changed my world. Bought several products and came out feeling like a different woman. I would recommend anyone doing this who feels a little in the dark. She gave me some great tips and pointers and I feel I have the products needed to update my look for the new year.
I also loved the tip from someone here about always wearing earrings ( hoops esp I guess.) I have done since and it really adds a little bit of glam/ light to my face. So thank you!!

Glad it worked out. I’ll look at booking in.
