Just discovered horseradish sauce.
Specifically m&s creamed horseradish sauce .
Had it yesterday on beef Xmas lunch and today with left over beef.
It's a revelation.
I'm in love.

This with some mashed potatoes and throw in a spoonful of horseradish sauce in the mash and roast some tenderstem brocolli the oven. It's really tasty and comforting but the horseradish mash just makes it really special

OP you MUST try Tesco's beef and horseradish crisps - they are phenomenal!

Poppyseason · 26/12/2023 23:25

I love it too! I have it with all meats! Lush!

Zanatdy · 26/12/2023 23:27

Never properly tried it. I like mustard with beef - does it have a similar mustard type flavour / mustard style ‘hot’?

Crikeyalmighty · 26/12/2023 23:30

I stir a large teaspoon into bisto- turns bland into great gravy!

I’d say a distant cousin to mustard hot…miles away from pepper hot. I’m not a huge fan of pepper heat (jalapeño, ghost, scotch bonnet, etc), but love horseradish/wasabi. Mustard to me is somewhere between the two.

Toast, spread with horseradish, poached egg. Smoked salmon an optional extra...
try Coleman's extra hot horseradish for an extra kick. (You only need a little!)

That sounds nice, might try it tomorrow

Thanks. Maybe I’ll try some when I’m eating out - assume it’s beef it’s best eaten with?

It’s a good place to start. Just buy a small jar for the next time you make a beef roast. It’s not usually expensive and sadly not common to find out in the restaurant wild.

fab I’ll do that, hopefully I like it. I like Wasabi/ mustard so similar

Oh I always have this in the fridge - love it- on a roast beef dinner but on a cold leftover beef sandwich with a ton of salted butter divine. The best is on smoked mackerel - and I really don't like fish- (long story but I can mostly only tolerate a fish in batter from the chippy) a cold smoked mackerel fillet from the market with some peppery watercress and horseradish is delicious!

Fruitbatdancer · 27/12/2023 00:29

It’s fabulous in a Bloody Mary!
also, best around (I think) is sainsburys taste the difference closely followed by Coleman’s

AdaColeman · 27/12/2023 00:31

Hot sausage sandwich with horseradish is delicious. I also mix horseradish in with the dressing for Waldorf salad, and spread horseradish on toast when making cheese on toast. I use it to give a spike of flavour to beef stroganoff too.

If you're making sandwiches with roast beef, try adding a few anchovies on top of the beef for a super taste explosion!

Newlittlerescue · 27/12/2023 07:21

Smoked mackerel pate - smoked mackerel fillets, lemon zest and squeeze, chopped parsley, Philadelphia cheese, and horseradish.
