Sixth Sense.... or something else?

Lunamoon23 · 23/12/2023 20:14

I'm not sure if sixth sense is the correct definition tbh ....
but, for quiet a while now, I've had a lot of coincidental things happen.. and everytime im a little bit more taken aback and also think I'm going a little mad....

But, sometimes I'll go into a daydream, I'll be watching tv, but my mind is somewhere completely different and it's like I'm having a waking dream. It's really vivid, conversations take place and it's usually some sort of scene playing out but with people I know. I also get very vivid dreams similar to above mentioned but, I'm asleep, however, sometimes i find I'll wake mid-dream to say, go toilet, then go back to bed and strangely the exact dream I was having, picks up where it ended (which I know is pretty much impossible but, I swear, it's happening) but ... these dreams/daydreams, then play out in real life. I've even had daydreams about my ex bosses eldest son and daughter in law splitting up, joked to her about it in work and literally, a week and a half later, they announced they're splitting. And I really didn't know them all that well! But I know everyone said how shocked they were because they seemed such a solid couple.
I've had other instances about family members, bad news, and in the next few weeks it happens which you just wouldn't have seen coming.
I've spoken to my mum about it, and she's mentioned when I was a kid i was always a very intuitive sensitive child, very clingy and would often have a reoccurring nightmare.

Anyone else experience this happening?

Kind of like deja vu? You're seeing it clearer before than usual, most people it's a vague feeling of seeing it before. Your mom's right. Probably very intuitive

caringcarer · 23/12/2023 20:43

I sometimes wake from a dream, go to the loo then jump straight back into the same dream. If it's a bad dream I read for a bit so I don't have to go back to it.

Is Deja vu not a feeling of being somewhere or doing something before?
Mine is almost like a vision, it hasn't happened before, but then after I've seen it, it plays out weeks later exactly alike. It's quite freaky!

Premonitions then. It happens alot more than people think. Deja vu is in the same category but it's not as strong. I'd find it freaky too😳

tchotchke · 23/12/2023 20:57

Do you have epilepsy? Not being funny.

OldTinHat · 23/12/2023 20:59

I jump in and out of dreams all the time. Have done for years. Wake up, go to the loo, back to bed, bang, back in that dream again.

I also have premonitions. Far too many for my liking, including life changing injuries.

I am ND, maybe relevant.

I would suggest this as something to check with a doctor. Can be migraines/epilepsy/other brain things.

I had a diagnosis this way.

MiddleagedBeachbum · 23/12/2023 21:05

The majority consensus in mumsnet is anti anything ‘woo’ - at all!

However, who knows! Literally all science does is actually proves telepathy and intuition does exist - we only need to study the animal and plant kingdoms to see this.

So regarding visioning, telepathy - yes I believe in it and experience it myself. I also use this to bring in what I want in life.

Since 2020 there’s been a massive spiritual shift in awakening - more and more people are said to be rising in their consciousness.
Therefore there’s actually a huge movement of people going through these symptoms growing.

Obviously this is going to trigger some people!
I don’t normally share stuff like this on here, but I wanted to let you know that in other places on the internet there’s whole forums dedicated to exactly this xx

I believe it's possible OP

My son has this. He has been diagnosed with focal aware seizures ( form of epilepsy).

But déjà vu is explained through science. It's when you receive the information and remember the information at the same time. It's a blip. A premonition is completely different.

No definately don't have epilepsy. And I have had brain scans due to a bleed in the brain of a family member, all clear. I don't suffer headaches, very rarely get one to be honest.

That's exactly what I experience.

I'll give an example, Tuesday evening as I was trying to fall asleep with my eyes closed, I had this very vivid dream like scenario playing out in my mind, that I was going to get a phone call about something serious happening to my dad.
Wednesday evening, I got a call saying he's had a fall and suffered a heart attack.
Thankfully - he is fine. But that's just the most very recent of cases.

I'll be honest, that's exactly as I would describe them, alike premonitions.. or atleast what we think of premonitions to be from tv shows or films, I just feel a little crazy saying that.. Blush

This. I didn’t know it was meant to be rare. I have vivid nightmares at least a few times a week. I try to properly wake myself up and stay awake for a period of time before going back to sleep as I’ll slip straight back into the same nightmare. Usually it doesn’t work anyway and I can have the same recurring nightmare all night :/

GobbleDGook · 23/12/2023 22:01

I have had this sort of thing since I was a child. Went through a period of time when it never happened at all, when I was sort of ignoring it/explaining it away. But then boom it came back with more power and I have had some amazing interconnected/mystical experiences and throughout my life have had countless premonitions/intuitions in various forms, sometimes I just know stuff, sometimes I dream it. These days I do energy healing and occasionally have messages/symbols to tell my clients during the sessions. Sounds totally bonkers but I’m a very level headed person but also very intuitive.

i know there’s plenty of people on mumsnet (and elsewhere) who will think it’s a crock of shite or have other explanations but it’s very very clear to me that these experiences are very very real. Just not tangible in the way something physical is.

Go with it! Just be mindful of your own energy because it can become quiet draining.

AndSoFinally · 23/12/2023 22:19

If you compare the times the dreams come true, to the times when the dreams don't, what sort of ratio are we talking?

Unless about 80-90+% of your dreams come true, I'd say you were just more perceptive than the average person, and falling victim to a good chunk of confirmation bias

There are also people on the internet describing how they were abducted by aliens taken to another planet and then returned still wearing the same baseball cap. Are these the same or a separate group?

Bruce Willis was dead all the way through. Blows my mind

LittleMousewithcloggson · 23/12/2023 22:37

I read an article on this once
Very interesting
It’s an incredible sense of perception, connection and the ability to link events which might seem random.
A comment or an incident, sometimes very small and you might not even remember it, sets off a train of thought in your subconscious/dream and plays it through to a conclusion - which is often what then happens in real life
For example, a friend says her chicken in a restaurant tastes a bit strange
Your brain knows she’s recently married, wants children and plays the scenario through that she’s trying for a baby and will do a pregnancy test and announce her pregnancy. You have a “premonition” she is going to announce her pregnancy (without knowing that comment has triggered your thoughts) and sure enough, she does a few weeks later
People with this skill are often very good at puzzles, code breaking etc as their brains can see beyond the obvious

semantlename · 24/12/2023 09:53

Epilepsy isn't just diagnosed from brain scans. They can be all clear, you'd need an EEG if it's focal and not caused by injury/not causing injury.

Dotjones · 24/12/2023 10:06

Premonitions are often easily explainable in that the subconscious part of your brain is aware of things that the conscious part doesn't think of. Think of working in an office, your brain picks up loads of snippets of conversations but filters them out of the conscious part because if it didn't nobody would get any work done, if every distraction was given equal weight it would be impossible to focus on the important ones.

The couple splitting up - maybe you've subconsciously heard things that it wasn't going well or seen signs. Perhaps you joking about it prompted her to act! A relative being unwell - your subconscious has seen their recent state of health and has worked out it's more likely they will be ill soon. That kind of thing.

Obviously there are other more "far out" explanations like all points in time existing simultaneously.
