To have lost 10 stone of weight in four months

OP posts:
ZeldaFighter · 23/12/2023 18:18

I'd be more inclined to believe they can't measure or count. Perhaps they meant 10 lb or 10kg x

TiredOfSayingItAgain · 23/12/2023 18:21

Not possible. 10 stone in a year would be impressive, but 4 months? No. I lost 4st in 43 months doing the Cambridge diet, and that was just 3 shakes per day. I was starving hungry.

LaughingCat · 23/12/2023 18:22

It is possible. I went 106kg to 74kg between end of April and beginning of July a couple of years ago. That’s what…five stone in just over two months? Lockdown, working from home, eating healthily every day (without nipping to M&S Food by the office for Percy Pigs every day) and working out in my commute time. I put on weight extremely quickly. I lose weight extremely quickly.

Why wouldn’t you believe someone?

ganglion · 23/12/2023 18:38

MLM...?

Gozdilla · 23/12/2023 18:40

I had a gastric sleeve and lost 7 stone in 12 months.

I think what she said is pretty impossible.

Undineimmor · 23/12/2023 18:46

Did they dump their boyfriend?

Shizzlestix · 23/12/2023 19:48

I’ve lost over 6stone in under 5 months-bypass-so I’m kind of doubtful, but as pp said, the more you weigh, the quicker it goes. Some members of my FB group have started at about his weight and dropped 10st in 8 months or so, never heard of anyone losing that much so fast. He can’t have eaten anything for that time!

jay55 · 23/12/2023 19:54

Sort of thing that happened on the American version of The biggest loser, they'd start out at 600lbs though.

Motorbike311 · 23/12/2023 20:09

10st is 140lbs, 1lb weight loss = 3500 calorie deficit/day, 4 months = 122 days so its close, it would be a mix of water and fat loss. The huge deficit in calories and the hours of cardio required would make most feel very unwell but I expect its possible.

Devonshiregal · 23/12/2023 20:18

If you’re very sick yes.

NorthCliffs · 23/12/2023 20:29

I had a sleeve gastrectomy and lost 13st in a year and that was going some. More info needed.

Dymaxion · 23/12/2023 20:33

If you are usually eating 5/6k in calories per day and don't really move much, then you reduce that to 1/2k per day and move around a lot more, then yes it could be possible, if your starting weight was very high.

huuskymam · 23/12/2023 20:46

It is possible. My son lost 6 stone in 2 months thanks to a change of diet, cycling and the gym.

Doggymummar · 23/12/2023 17:38

Maybe they ditched there boyfriend or partner, I lost 12 stone overnight once and happily told everyone

😂

Atre · 23/12/2023 20:52

Are they an amputee?

Itsallfunngamesuntil · 23/12/2023 20:53

Did they chop off two legs and two arms lol?

Sausages345pp · 23/12/2023 20:53

I know someone who lost 6 stone in a month with gastric bypass . So definitely possible .

cunningartificer · 23/12/2023 21:06

Are you sure they're not confusing stones with pounds or kilograms?! My brother did this and told us all about the lady in his slimming world group who lost five stone in a week!

Sugarsun · 23/12/2023 22:21

When people have weight loss surgery they can lose a lot in a short amount of time, especially if they were very big to start with.

A lot will be water weight too and inflammation.
If their stomach has been cut and removed that’s also a weight that has been reduced.

They often want you to diet before hand to shrink your liver and again this will reduce your weight.

If they’ve not had weight loss surgery then I’d be surprised if anyone can lose this amount of weight so quickly, but they could be ill or morbidly obese.

Intriguedbythis · 28/12/2023 15:36

@huuskymam thats incredibile!!! Was he quite heavy to begin with? May we now pre and current weight? What an achievement 🏆 💪

Crunchymum · 28/12/2023 15:39

I feel like I have read this before? (not a week ago - a while ago?)

He was over 20 stone but he's tall and broad so you wouldn't think he was that heavy. He did get down to 14 with hard work, but now he's putting another 2 on by choice cause he's toning and bulking up at the gym.
