To ask if you are pagan, how did your winter solstice pan out?

A quiet day, food, booze, candles for the shortest day and the return of the sun.
We have a vintage tree with glass baubles, most are about 60 years old so quite a mix of colours but still pretty.
We don't buy presents for each other and have a simpe roast dinner [both veggie].
It was a lovely relaxing day before we visit 'christmas' family in new year.
Happy yule to everyone, have a great time whatever / however you celebrate.🍾🍰

Happy Yule. Not pagan, but I nick bits from everyone. Plenty of lights and candles, went for a walk to see the last of daylight, quick drink in pub and home for a takeaway.

Just placemaking (agnostic) as I like reading about different religious celebrations. I watched the feed of the Solstice from Stonehenge, there were some beautiful clothes and head dresses worn by the Pagans. Wishing you a happy Yule!

I went for a swim in the sea, gave blessings and a prayer for all the elements. Was a good day and since then I’ve felt more energised

middle if more people connected with nature it might well reduce a lot of angst and stress in the world.
Give it a go peeps you may well feel energised in body and mind.

I can lose hours just sitting watching the critters in my wee garden and even watching the colours of the sky changing.

Not pagan as such, but more on the side of 'let's celebrate the sun, the earth and everything it does for us.'

I had to work it. Watched the sunrise as I walked the dog, then a long late shift at work (but at least I got to watch the sun go down behind the trees opposite my workplace).

Did a little private runic ritual when I got home, half expecting a neighbour to come bursting in to tell me my garden was on fire...

BringMeTea · 23/12/2023 13:56

Not pagan but did watch the live feed from Newgrange at sunrise and learned lots of interesting stuff.

I did our usual solstice ceremony with my older children. We turn all the lights off and sit in the dark thinking about things that have happened this year. Then one of us lights a big new white candle and we all make a wish. Then we had some sparklers in the garden. I’d love to take them to Stonehenge one day.

This sounds so lovely.

If you love nature and the countryside, being with nature you have pagan in you.
It is all about celebration of nature and the elements, [not witchcraft - that's a different aspect, and we don't recognise the devil either as that is a christian concept].

Winter solstice is my birthday, always a good start to the day!

Ironlights · 24/12/2023 15:36

I always go out into the woods on the equinoxes/solstices but unwell this year so couldn't on 22nd. Just sat and watched the sky and felt the power of it all. I love the feeling of tilt and thinner distance, I suspect I have a lot of pagan in me as feel so connected to nature in all seasons and light.

CoffeeCantata · 24/12/2023 16:01

Aren't we all celebrating the winter solstice though? It's the most important day of the year to me. Wouldn't want to label myself a pagan necessarily.

CuppaWhiteTea · 24/12/2023 16:46

I met my dear friend for a lovely walk in the woods drinking in the stillness, and then we had a cup of mulled wine each. I felt so tired at the start and so restored by the time we said goodbye.

sashh · 25/12/2023 02:58

A friend came over, we lit candles and ate food and drank alcohol.

WyrdyGrob · 25/12/2023 03:01

Will Stanton, is that you?

edited because it didn’t quote the poster with the midwinter birthday. If you know. You know
