To be fed up of constant bleeding?

My “period” started on the 1st December. Since then it’s stopped and started a few times but never completely disappeared. It’s back to being heavy again now. I was given a 10 day course of medication to stop the bleeding. I’m now on day 5 and it’s made no difference. I feel at the end of my tether with it all. GP says I had a pelvic ultrasound recently and my smear is up to date so not overly concerned. The constant bleeding is getting to me though regardless of cause and I don’t know what to do.

I had this years ago. Went on for months and months. Turns out it was the combined pill, I got lots of endometrial polyps that they said were excess estrogen.

Years later I had the implant. First one was fine. However the next one the constant bleeding, excruciating pain started again.

Is it a bad sign that the tablets don’t seem to be working? Day 6 now and no difference. I’ve worked myself up into believing this means it will be cancer.

I had fibroids this is how it began for me. Had a total hysterectomy a few years ago. The Tranexamic acid will just clot the blood I did not get help from norethisterone tbh

sometimes women get a too thick womb lining - you may be able to get an ablation

What age are you? I had this, two or three periods a month for months on end. I’ve had the Mirena put in (twice) after investigations both times. Second time they said it’s likely being peri-menopausal. Last time, no reason was found or suggested.

Would the Mirena be a possibility? It does work (eventually) for me, anyway. I had Norethisterone to begin with, I think it took time to work, wasn’t immediate. They wouldn’t let me stay on it long term but I’ve got a friend who was on it for ages.

Have also noticed when I have a significant amount to drink I start to bleed bright blood again even if I’ve just stopped. Am not saying this is what is causing your issue, just for information.

Don’t know if the most likely cause is cancer but it’s understandable to be worried and it’s not sustainable to bleed all the time. Can you contact them again before the end of the course and ask for it to be extended?

I’m 32, been having very light periods for over a year. Now there’s just constant brown bleeding. At first I thought it was just a hormonal thing. But if it was hormonal I’d expect the hormones I’ve been given to work, and they aren’t.

Endometrial cancer would usually present as a thickened lining visible on ultrasound so if the ultrasound was ok, you are ok. I recently had this, I'm a lot older than you but premenopausal. My lining was more than twice normal. I thought 'oh shit ' tbh but biopsy showed nothing concerning and a mirena has hugely improved things. In any case it's a very successfully treated cancer with excellent outcomes.
I think what you've got is a hormonal pita uterus.i would go back to the gp and say you are not putting up with bleeding like this, if they don't know what else to offer they need to refer you for a gynae opinion.
