Manager unprofessional & acting weird

Manager has been causing trouble in work. Telling different staff of other members of staff are telling her in confidence. She's told me stuff about certain staff members of what they've said in appraisals.

She's accused a new member of staff of going out with the others when she didn't but seems to have a big problem with this. Saying she finds it's weird that she's been told she was going but didn't.

Has been going between said member of staff above and another causing trouble between them but making out like she's trying to save new staff job. Eg "I'm the one that's saved you from getting sacked, everyone wants you gone"

Member of staff is off with Covid but the others are out tomorrow for a few drinks she has messaged another member and said "I'm telling you now if any of you out with her tomorrow and get Covid I won't be happy" this
Member isn't even going out.

She shouts and swears from her office to us.
She's passive aggressive with everything.

We all want to report her but don't know how to go about it. The people above her seem to like her I think as she is good at her job. Some of said we all need to get together with what she has done to each of us and then go above her but we're scared that it will come back on us.

Any suggestions?

Damn.. yes you need to report her if she’s causing you this much aggro

have you all tried approaching her (individually) and expressing your concerns?

Complain to whoever is higher up. Everyone who wants to complain can all do so via email or whatever.

Also, complain for yourself, nobody else.

How is HR organised? Can you get advice from them?

chipsandpeas · 21/12/2023 16:27

if shes breaking confidences then deffo report her just on that basis

Notimeforaname · 21/12/2023 16:27

Personally I would say it to her first before complaining higher up, to see what she says.

Unfortunately not because when you get on the wrong side of her then you know about.

Also forgot to add, She texted a member of staff who was off sick because she changed her fb profile picture. Then got her in the office saying she was pissed off with her that she did that. It's just getting worse and worse. We have heard that in her last job she was accused of bullying and actually brought it up in her interview and was laughing about it. But only 2 turned up for the interview and she was second choice. So they didn't take it into consideration

We haven't got a HR. She bullied another staff out not long after starting and we didn't have HR but he was part of a union so he went through them.

Write a joint complaint and get EVERYONE to sign it. Safety in numbers.

bungletru · 22/12/2023 05:02

ok well considering everything you’ve said now, you should report, get advice and do a joint complaint for sure.
HR Should be able to support you

write a log of everything she’s done, dates etc.
the swearing at you alone should be enough but be sure to add everything in.

TheRealProfessorYaffle · 22/12/2023 06:26

She doesn't have HR.

SparklyMularky · 22/12/2023 07:33

No job is worth your personal stress. We are replaceable to employers and they are replaceable to us.

Either look for other jobs and when you hand your notice in make it clear why or complain to the person above her. Probably best to look for another job in case but you don't need to put yourself through stress for this.

Thank you everyone. I love my job and surprisingly it's in the NHS. So she should know more than most how important confidentially is. I'm going to mention to the rest of the staff what we should do and see if their happy to go ahead. Lists and notes of everything that has been said/done is a good idea so will ask everyone to do that.
