If you take this time of year off as annual leave, what are you doing?

I've always worked until and including Xmas Eve. The kids go to a mixture of holiday clubs. When I hear from friends who seem to be struggling with very excited children, crap weather etc or see parents try to go do the Xmas food shop with kids in tow, I think why? Why would you put yourself through it? Surely it's nicer to have annual leave in the summer or spring. Otherwise you just have ten days off in a row?

I actually love working this time of year! Always a nice atmosphere IME

I finished yesterday because the children did but will be back on the 27th and I am more than happy with that

I finish on Friday and just have a week and a day off this year. That's fine with me. The weather forecast is rubbish so nice winter walks are likely out. We will visit family and have friends over. I wish we went away abroad. I'm going to push for it again next year

My office closes from tomorrow afternoon till Jan 2nd, but the DCs only finished today (DD) or tomorrow (DS). I don't see the point of winding them up with Santa visits/special activities at home/going out this week, so we do all that after Christmas Day (some burn-off-energy activities like going to the beach or the climbing wall, plus a local theatre production).

I don't have to do any WFH though DH often did before he retired (or actually went in the office, which was a much quieter commute than normal) but the holiday club that DD likes is open for 3 of the days she has off school so I'm about to ask her if she wants to go in for a day (DS has SEN and finds holiday clubs a bit much, but DD finds being at home with him all day a bit much too!)

(Almost everyone else was off this week, I think one of the neighbouring LEAs was off, so yesterday in the office was sooo peaceful, nobody bothering me!)
