Our best ever washing machine was a Hotpoint with 9kg drum. Sold it, in perfect condition after daily use, at 4 years old, when we changed the kitchen. Wasn’t able to get the equivalent model in an integrated version. I still miss it!

Thank you!!

I only buy hotpoint. My last one lasted around 12 years, It only needed brushes replacing twice in that time. The one before that lasted nearly 10 years too.
I don’t love our latest one, only because the sensor is now too sensitive and sometimes, if stuff is unbalanced and all on one side of the drum, it doesn’t spin all the water out without me redistributing the items and re spinning, but it performs/washes brilliantly.

I find Ao quite good

Hotpoint was taken over by Indesit in 2001 and in 2014 the Whirlpool Corporation bought the majority shares of Indesit. Indesit and Hotpoint appliances are both good and as they are made by the same people it might be worth looking at indesit machines too. I think indesit might be a bit cheaper, but there might be different deals on different machines (especially when the sales hit) but they will basically be the same parts underneath.

I like hotpoint but could only ever make mine last for 4 years. I like that you can change the spin speed as well as temperature for different settings.

On my blacklist due to how we were treated by the company when we had one of the old Indesit tumble driers that were known to catch fire.

I will never buy any of their products again. My new washing machine is LG

Yes- Still going strong at 11 years!

Please do not buy hotpoint. I currently have a dishwasher that was on the brink of going on fire. 2 separate engineers have looked at it (including their own) and described it as so. They initally said they would fix it and then after a month said they couldn't get the part. I was then told I will have to replace at my own cost (fair enough). However, they have no longer logged this case as a fire risk, when they couldn't get the part. They can not explain how it nearly went on fire as supposedly was a 12v wire and it shouldn't have enough energy running through it to cause a fire. I have asked how many others this has also happened too, no reply, I have asked for details on how to request freedom of information request. No response. Although I do suspect if there are others, they are also not being recorded as fire risk. So like the tumble driers until there are multiple serious fires, they will keep getting away with high risk items in people's homes. They do not care for anyone's safety! Please avoid for you and your families safety!

Yes, I love it. Way better than my ££££ Samsung that took four hours for a wash and shouted at me none stop and then died.

Lifestooshort71 · 20/12/2023 23:35

Love my hotpoint. Does a 30-min wash at 30°, a 60-min one at 60° and an eco wash at 40° in 80-mins. Separate spin for 16mins. It also reads Hello when I turn it on. I like good manners.

There is a known design flaw in the Invertermotor washing machine (possibly in other models too). If you forget to check for a coin in a pocket it will rip out the flimsy wire in the door seal, the machine will leak and you'll need to pay an engineer to fix it. It's not cheap. Happened twice now. They know the flaw is there and it earns them engineer fees.

Zingy123 · 02/01/2025 12:30

@Heartworm how can you blame Hotpoint for you not checking the pockets?

The door seal can be fitted easily. There's no need to call an engineer.

I've never had that problem with a washing machine before. Do explain how to fix the seal, seeing as you're feeling helpful.

Zingy123 · 02/01/2025 12:58

@Heartworm you buy a new one and fit it using the instructions. Takes about 10 minutes.

I have a Hotpoint Indesit Washer Dryer. I love it. It has been in more or less daily use for 5byears and it still runs perfectly and dries efficiently. I think it was around £450 when purchased which was a squeeze at the time, but well worth the money. However, I highly regard Bosch products. I have had Bosch products for decades and they still run perfect.

PalisadesPatty · 02/01/2025 20:04

I hate my hotpoint washer dryer. The interface is completely unintuitive, almost all the cycles take hours and hours and it leaves all my clothes coated in fluff. It’s shit, and brand new unfortunately so I’m stuck with it now.
