To be struggling to find something to do for my daughters birthday on 2nd Jan?!

Curious23x · 20/12/2023 20:20

I feel guilty that she has such a terrible birthday (2nd Jan) but my DD is turning 6 and I have no idea where to take her. Does anyone have any ideas?!

She is having a birthday party on the following Saturday, but would like to do something nice with her on the day.

She has potential ASD/ADHD. Things like bowling etc always end disastrously.

Where do you live (roughly)?

Turnthelightoff · 20/12/2023 20:31

brunch or lunch date with pancakes and hot chocolate? The cinema?

dottymac · 20/12/2023 20:42

A nice afternoon tea? Paint a pot type thing? Pampering treat at a spa?

Shouldbedoing · 20/12/2023 20:46

Is Panto too rowdy? Make it her birthday tradition?

Notimeforaname · 20/12/2023 20:52

Yes I also immediately thought of a fun meal out. Pancakes, ice cream etc or whatever she is into ? Or a trip to pick out a new game or toy?

Curious23x · 20/12/2023 20:54

@Ablondiebutagoody Hertfordshire, just outside of North East London.

@Turnthelightoff @dottymac I really wish she had the tolerance for things like that. Sadly, not an option. We have done a couple of cinema trips, might double check what's on as a back up ☺️

Ice skating?

ladygindiva · 20/12/2023 20:55

I've got December born kids and I think the silver lining of having a birthday this time of year is panto and also there's always good stuff on at the cinema.

MasterBeth · 20/12/2023 20:55

Yes, you should definitely feel guilty for fucking some time around April 2nd. [Eye roll...]

Panto. Ice skating. Ice cream parlour. Anything you would do at any other time of year. Why is this hard?

Curious23x · 20/12/2023 20:56

@Shouldbedoing @ladygindiva I'm going to check out some local pantos, might be a good shout!

Mine are 5 and 7 and £25 to rinse through in an arcade is the biggest treat they could imagine.

There's a cool place near us that is flat fee of £10 to get in but then all the games are free once you get in.

doodlepants · 20/12/2023 20:57

We're doing this for DDs upcoming birthday: https://dopaminelandexperience.com/london/?utmsource=google&utmmmedium=localcards&utmcampaign=1099977LON

London Zoo.

Ablondiebutagoody · 20/12/2023 20:57

A mooch around London. Touristy stuff. A museum if you can book tickets

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 20/12/2023 20:58

Should have said eldest is AuDHD too. She loves the noise/lights etc, a definite full on sensory experience!

berrypop · 20/12/2023 20:59

A treat for me and my dd, just the two of us, is a trip to the cinema and Wagamama for lunch.

We've just been to see Wish, which she thoroughly enjoyed and it's not particularly long to sit through. DD is 4.

CornishPorsche · 20/12/2023 21:03

Cinema - any kid / SEN friendly sessions?

Swimming - maybe a new place that's unfamilar?

Curious23x · 20/12/2023 21:04

@Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie ahhh, when we made the bowling mistake the only bit she loved was the arcade. Thank you for the reminder!

@doodlepants this looks cool, thank you

Safari park ?
Woburn is a good one, not too far from London.
Or Roller skating, swimming, horse/pony ride, nice bookshop and cream tea?
