To feel so mortified at having walked into unlocked toilet cubicle?

Interval break at a concert yesterday evening. Quite a few tipsy people around but not me as hadn't been drinking. Ladies toilets busy but one cubicle appeared available from outside and so I gently pushed open the door a little just in case.

Sure enough I had opened the door onto a woman sitting on the loo, knickers around her feet. Not sure who was more embarrassed, me or her.

I couldn't close the door from the outside and so left the door slightly ajar and went into another cubicle further down.

I feel mortified for the woman I nearly walked in on, and also feel mortified myself for having nearly done so even though the door was unlocked.

Not really an AIBU but wondering who was in the wrong here.

Merry Christmas.

Ofcourse it was not ur fault. Maybe the door had a faulty lock. If this happens though I lean forward with my arm out to stop anyone pushing it all the way open.

I did recently open the door on a disabled toilet at the cinema to a man doing a pee 🙈 We were both horrified 😆 he was with his daughter and I was with mine. I didn't "see" anything more just we were both startled! I said sorry and closed the door. He said sorry he thought he had locked it when he came out. No harm done.

Mortified is such an OTT word! You say you don’t feel you need help, but if this is how you feel the next day and to make a post about it, then you do need help as this level of anxiety will effect you in so many ways.

Neither of you are in the wrong?! It's an accident. Don't give it a second thought.
