To think I’ll get my life back when we get 30 hours funding?

LO goes one morning a week just to have her socialised well and give us a few hours break. Putting her in for more than that would be a stretch financially at the moment - am I being delusional to think that when she gets her 30 hours when she turns three
Autumn 2024 that I will get some of my life back?

I desperately miss having as much time to myself, time with OH and long solo walks with the dog! Too be honest I’m a much better parent with time away from her!

Do you work? I think you only get the 30 hours when you work. You'll get 15 hours from 2 otherwise?

Sparklesocks · 15/12/2023 14:57

I sympathise fully but there seems to be a lot of doubt about whether the hours will actually come in/how they’re funded and a lot of providers aren’t sure if they can do them - so I wouldn’t pin everything on it unfortunately.

Oh dear not filling me with hope here… Yes me and OH work full time 👍

A school based preschool will probably be a lifesaver for you

When is actually 3 though? Its the term after their birthday not their birthday ..

AwkwardPaws27 · 15/12/2023 17:57

How do you work full time with only one morning a week? What's the secret?! I can barely send an email without DS trying to bash the keyboard Grin so he's in childcare for the 4 days a week I work.

Littlepixie85 · 15/12/2023 17:58

What's your current childcare situation if you both work full time? The free hours definitely help financially if you've been paying for private nursery/childminder but essentially only cover school hours and term time only.

oneflewoverthe · 15/12/2023 18:19

Surely you can't give your time to work with a toddler around? It's unfair on your toddler too. Are your work ok with the childcare situation?

HouseChainDrama · 15/12/2023 18:23

Do you work nights perhaps?

Snozzlemaid · 15/12/2023 18:28

If you'll qualify for 30 hours from the autumn you should also get 15 hours, 2 year old funding from April when new funding entitlement starts.

I assume you don't work daytime weekdays as she's only in once for fun. So yes of course when she's in nursery you'll get that time to yourself.

Is it term time or full year? It's less a week if you're stretching over a year in private but if it's school nursery you'll drop off about 8.40 and pick up 2.40. depends on your commute.
We're in maybe one morning a half term max for school nursery - Inspire mornings, assembly etc. and there's a few school trips you can opt to help on. No idea about private but of course most of those 6 hours minus commute are yours.
I'm what is say is it's very easy to just lose them, and feel like you've done nothing

Are you trying to work full time without childcare? It doesn't work....

The universal 15 hours is from the term after 3rd birthday.

If you work FT won't you be working when she's at nursery?
