I'm going out with my younger sister who's only 17. She uses my old driving license it's in my old name. And has a different photo

If they notice can they take my passport off me?

@harriettenightingale I was thinking the other way around so I can't have my passport taken from me

Then she can text saying I didn't get in we wait 5 and leave

She has a friend who goes to the places we are going and went out from 16 onwards no issues and has a baby face so I'm hoping neither of us will be asked

If an adult was caught attempting to traffic a minor into licensed premises using forged ID, that might be seen as a safeguarding issue so police & social services may be involved.

DoodlesMam · 15/12/2023 10:51

Yes i went to the pub at 16 but I didn't drink alcohol and I was well behaved... we sat with cokes in the corner.... night clubs is a different thing perhaps she can wait till she's 18? or is that too much? it's not a good idea to have fake ID.

Fucking hell 🤣🤣🤣

Have a day off. OP, just go in together. It's weirder you sneaking in separately etc. And get her a fake ID for Xmas 😉

seesw · 15/12/2023 11:23

@Week54 so if I can prove it's me bank cards other Id they can't take it from me?

It would have to be the best place ever, I can't see the point of risking it

Using your passport as ID to get into a nightclub is bonkers. Surely you have an alternative form of ID? And why does your sister need your old DL? Why hasn't she got her own (fake) ID?

It's actually really difficult to get acceptable photo ID if you can't hold a driving licence. One of my kids (who is over 18) can't drive for medical reasons. So many bars and clubs refuse alternatives such as citizen ID, travel ID, work ID etc. They always have to carry their passport now, despite having alternatives as you never know what will be accepted on the door. Everyone just assumes everyone is eligible for a provisional driving licence.

HamsterBanana · 15/12/2023 11:35

They'll give it to the police which you'll need to collect from the police station, surely she can just wait a few months till she turns 18?

I don’t think they should go in together because if they both get asked for ID then the bouncers obviously won’t let them in.

If the sister goes in first and then gets let in, then OP knows to queue up and go in too.

By the time they check OPs ID they probably would have forgotten that another person with the same name, DOB and similar looks has already gone in.

Sugarsun · 15/12/2023 11:48

OP I doubt they would ever take your passport off of you because it’s not fake and it’s actually you, you can show them your current driving license too to prove it.

There’s less chance of your sister getting in (although I think she’ll be fine if she looks like the photo) and so she should try first.

The worst that will happen is that she’ll get rejected and then you can both try somewhere else instead.

sweetpickle23 · 15/12/2023 11:50

I dont think they'll take your ID away, but if they use ID scanners and you get barred then you could end up barred at other local venues who scan the same ID (the systems all talk to each other).

seesw · 15/12/2023 11:51

@HamsterBanana the passport or driving license?

@Sugarsun it's the same first name but the photos don't look alike my driving one is a photo from 16 so close in age to my sister and we get told we're similar looking

Then my passport which was new last year is a brand new photo I don't think the photos are close

Only thing is first name and date of birth

So how old does the DOB make your 17 yo sister?

JamieKnows · 15/12/2023 11:58

"So how old does the DOB make your 17 yo sister?"

Hmm. A very good point!

So the plan is to have your underwater sister outside alone and potentially having to deal with shitty bouncers alone.

Aye, wearing scuba gear or at least a snorkel

NancyJoan · 15/12/2023 12:12

This thread! No-one will take your passport, it's valid, and you are overage. They may take the driving license, which you would have to collect.
