To be annoyed about work Xmas party

Paid for work Christmas party at a pub in local city centre. Whole staff email sent out last night to say the party will be outside in the beer garden so bring a big coat.

I was really looking forward to it (don't get chance to go on nights out much), had nice outfit planned but don't fancy sitting on wooden benches and walking around on a gravel floor in nice trousers/heels...never mind the food being served outside which will be cold.

Why would anyone think a Christmas party outside is going to be fun? I wouldn't have paid for it if I'd known and most staff said same today. I was all for going on the tax with no coat on when I was 20 but not now I'm a dull older woman 😁

I’d skip it. Sounds crap.

Say no and request a refund which legally they have to honour as it was miss sold.

Is it a heated outdoor area? It might be ok if that's the case. It's still a very odd choice!

YANBU, that is insane. Sounds like someone forgot to book it and have had to accept the beer garden as it’s the only space left

It's rained most of December so those wooden benches would be, at the very least, damp. Plus damp ground so you'll need warm boots as well as that big warm coat.. can you get your money back - or decide this just isn't for you and stay in your warm home with a glass or three plus a Cook&Co/M&S meal instead? Move fast if you're planning on asking for your cash back. 🌹

I suspect it’s because it’s cheap.
