To be petrified..surgical tooth extraction, curly roots and sinus involvement.. NO SEDATION

Dear god I want to vomit. Molar is cracked through and giving me loads of pain. Dentist cannot get me seen either on NHS or privately for months unless I use their visiting surgeon who does their implants.
It needs extracting and he has looked at the x-ray saying it will be a very difficult extraction with curly roots and that I should be prepared for sinus cavity perforation where they touch, that he would attempt to stitch it up but that it could leave me worse off.

That can be done but without sedation next Wednesday.. or I wait for months when I am in agony with this tooth split down the middle. I said yes and I'm bricking it.

Good luck OP!

Oucht · 20/12/2023 08:10

Thanks everyone.. bricking it this morning but my appointments have changed to be closer together so by around 4pm I should be done with both and numb on both sides. Filling at midday and extraction at 2pm.
So willing this to go without a hitch 🫣

That's good that your appointment is now earlier, less time to worry about it. Will be thinking of you.

I know it's not what your question was really but I actually had a molar removed when I was pregnant with my eldest 29 years ago without any anaesthetic at all due to my pregnancy because it had cracked and broken and it was fine. I also have ridiculously curly roots. Fingers crossed for it all going well for you.

That is hardcore.

Good luck, OP! You’re going to be fine.

Oucht · 20/12/2023 16:14

Well I did it.. didn’t quite go to plan and ended up being a double extraction losing my two back molars on the upper left.

Im only 40 and have half my teeth left.
Eating is getting harder but I’m not doing implants.. couldn’t afford it if I wanted to and dentures just make me think of my nan.

Im not allowed to blow my nose for 2 weeks incase I blow out the sinus.
2 huge holes and 2 lots of stitches.

It is the visiting surgeon I am having do it. I am already on tramadol for other health conditions but it's not touching it at the moment. The tooth is broken through the nerve,

I had a full blown panic attack at the dentist when I was pregnant 12 years ago, and ever since have had a fear of the dentist. I had to have a root canal a few months ago, and it wasn't horrific, but I take Bachs remedies and have headphones on full blast so I can't hear the drilling, and I have my eyes closed throughout. Even for the hygienist.
Edit Sorry just saw you have had it done. Well done! I hate the dentist!

Oucht · 21/12/2023 09:46

Feeling bruised and hungry and soo much better than before. It was still bleeding when I went to bed last night but I wore my mouth guard and it’s stopped.

So glad it’s done… can start acting like an excited child for Xmas now much to the annoyance of my husband 🤣🤪

The cracked one had to be drilled into multiple pieces.. that was the worst bit.. the smell of burning bones 🤢
