DS9 strops

We've played together, he's played with his brother, he's had a bit of TV/gaming and the minute nothing is going on or we are busy or there's something he doesn't want to watch, he can't sort himself out without stropping.

He's just thrown a book so he's been sent to bed. DH isn't consistent with consequences (went back on a next day screen ban last week).

End of term tiredness yes but is this behaviour normal? He's generally well behaved, great at school, great fun and very sociable but the quiet moments don't happen without drama. He says he hates playing alone. I've tried:

  1. Writing a list with him i.e. Lego, drawing, reading etc.
  2. Lots of praise.
  3. Saying, you can help me with jobs if you're bored or have you got something fun to do?
  4. Going through his toys with him
