I hope and pray you're right and I'm wrong. Since Brexit my faith in anything good coming from our shambles of a democratic process is through the floor :(

I sympathise, it’s hard. I remember thinking the same when Thatcher was PM but it ended eventually. It’s indicative of just how shit it is now that I’d be happy with a real, old fashioned Tory government like Major’s.

I know, even call me Dave has made the current cabinet 50% better....

Lots of older people vote. And lots of them vote conservative, atleast in the South. Theres a large older population too.

The Tories won’t call for a GE until things appear better for them , but I think the latest is December 24 ? That would
be just after the US elections next November when they chose their President.

So that’ll be round about 2030 then.

BigGlenda · 23/12/2023 08:22

The thing is, they’re all shit. I honestly don’t trust any party to not grind the country into the mud. The whole thing needs a complete reform, not just a new party in charge

Paul2023 · 23/12/2023 10:15

I’m fed up of the same two parties taking charge every 10-15 years. It’s just a continuous cycle. We need a real change , a new party.
But it won’t happen anytime soon. It’s the same status quo. Other than the two main parties , no one else has the finances or party donars.
When it comes to general elections, most people still vote Conservative or Labour.

If you keep voting for the same parties , don’t complain when you get the same results.

I wouldn’t be surprised if either party wins with a minority government ie a hung parliament.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/12/2023 10:17

I hope so op. I really truly hope so!

I’d be astonished.

Well I've started chemo a couple of weeks ago (and a myriad of meds) for the second time in my life. It's a tough regime so i will plump for feeling well on Christmas Day abn to enjoy my Christmas dinner with my wonderful albeit small, family. Next year, I will be cancer free so that will be be the best gift ever. Happy Christmas all🎄

Thank you so much @Claudine

I work in policy and we are all working towards a GE in September. I am desperate for the Tories to be out, and am deeply ashamed I voted for them in the past.
