Currently people who pose questions have no facility to delete their user inspired content.

AIBU to think this is unfair and unreasonable?

You can name-change as much as you like to be anonymous.

You can post on one of the time-limited boards that auto-delete like 30 Days Only.

You can ask MNHQ to delete a thread if you have genuine privacy concerns.

You can ask MNHQ to delete your profile and all posts attached to that username, again if you really need to.

Couldn't you must make the mother of all offensive posts and have them delete your profile?

YANBU. It’s something you can do on virtually any other platform. I don’t understand why it’s so frowned upon here.

I think it’s especially important because mumsnet is the worst site I’ve come across for pile-ons, bullying and cruelty. When that happens the OP should be allowed to delete the thread and not leave those comments on their life standing.

HoHoHoliday · 13/12/2023 13:08

I agree with you OP. On any other "social" website you have the control and ability to delete posts and individual comments. I believe the same should exist here.
I posted a question once here and was getting helpful comments. The post gained a lot of attention on the mumsnet facebook page that I am not on, and people in my life recognised the situation and me and began contacting me about it.
I contacted mumsnet and asked them to delete my post and got a reply first saying "we try to avoid deleting threads if possible because it can help others..." which was very upsetting for me. It took another couple of messages to get the thread pulled.
It made me wary! I regularly comment on other threads but I think twice before starting my own now, which is not what the site should be about.
