AIBU… issues at work

Hi all,

Im posting this here as I know it will get more responses, I hope that’s ok.

On Friday, I reported my management and a certain team to HR. The issue is there is a ton of bullying in the work place including hate speech and racism, management are aware and have had months to sort it out, but nothing has been done. So I had enough and reported them all, HR are unable to keep me anonymous due to the seriousness of it, so tomorrow I’m fully expecting some really really awkward conversations and possibly quite hostile.

im really nervous, I do not deal well with conflict, however, it’s gotten to the point that people are leaving the team constantly. I’m miserable going into work, I’ve had time off for mental health reasons and I’m really struggling mentally. I’m so tempted to just go off sick and wait until I can find another job, but I feel like that is the cowardly way out.

has anyone experienced anything like this and have any advice?

Glad you have a new job, well done for standing up to them!

Some poor advice on here about whistleblowing. The OP is in a job that involves helping the homeless, presumably the general public. Therefore, reporting these instances (she says it has affected her clients) is certainly in the public interest and IS likely to be covered by whistleblowing legislation.

Honestly, I’m not sure at the moment. They had until after the new year to prove that they had acted on the complaints at the time, but I’ve heard nothing yet.

I reckon that things will go back to how they were in a few weeks, I just hope I’m gone by that time.

you reported it a month ago

and have heard nothing since

and HR haven’t made any interim changes whilst considering the complaint?

not a good sign

For future reference, HR are employed by the employer to ensure that the boat doesn't get rocked, and to ensure that people who rock it are dealt with. You should be in a union. HR don't care about you.

Yawn.

Do you speak for all of HR, everywhere? What evidence do you have to back up your opinion that you are asserting as fact?

HR's role is to help the company find and nurture the right people in order to deliver the company's aims and objectives. Staff wellbeing is key to that.

is that a quote from an HR department in the Employee handbook perhaps? 😂
