AIBU to have an outdoor laser tag party in February

Planning my sons 11th birthday, we came across an outdoor laser tag party at a local activity centre, my son now really wants to do this. His birthday is in February, would I be mad to plan an outdoor party in February? Anyone had an outdoor party in February and was it horrible because of the weather? Or do 11 year olds really not care about the weather

I think it depends where you are. I’m in Scotland and we can either have it very cold but a nice Sunny day or horrible rain. I probably wouldn’t book it just because of how unpredictable the weather was as I’d imagine the other parents wouldn’t be too impressed with their children running about in the rain.

Is there an indoor one you could book instead and suggest to your son you could arrange this for the warmer weather?

Yeah I'm not sure I'd do this but I think it does depend on where you live. I'm in the north east so in February there could be snow or horrendous rain, who knows.

My son wanted a football party but his birthday is in January so we had to go with a different option.

As a parent I'd think you were loopy if you invited my child to an outdoor party in February. We are in Scotland though.

We had paintballing for DS one year for his February birthday. There weren’t many playing - about 25 or 30 including our group of about 10, so that was a bit of a drawback. (But they had a good time, nonetheless.)

Another year he did outdoor laser tag, and he and his friends were raving about how much fun it was, when we picked them up.

The first time we had an outside shelter for between the games. I took plenty of snacks and drinks, and we could order pizza for lunch.

For the second one, we brought them back home and they ordered pizza to come to our house. I think they probably watched a film.

Another year, we had a much belated outdoor party in our garden with an adult bouncy castle. He was older by then, and it was more of a “School’s out” party, but February is tricky for outdoor parties.

Thanks all, we are in south east England so the weather may not be as bad as some of you get in Scotland.
I'm glad to hear someone has had successful outdoor parties in February. I'm still undecided. There are no indoor laser tag venues anywhere near us, I think the nearest is about an hour away.

My son had an outdoor laser combat party in November (in Scotland) for his 12th birthday and it was great. It was good as it was dry but I think a wee bit of rain wouldn't have mattered. They were running about a lot and also plenty of shelters

We had tubing party for my DD in December. It was a cold and frosty night and it was amazing. Everyone had fun the we went for pizza and chips afterwards.
