Minimum wage and jobs that pay a little more

As the minimum wage has been increasing and I believe it will be around £11.44 next year, what does that mean for slightly more skilled jobs that haven't seen similar increases?

AIBU to think that there is going to be a layer of workers that are not being paid much more than minimum wage for a job that would have been a healthier gap between their salary and the minimum wage when they first started the job?

Potentially these people could leave and find a minimum wage job with less stress /hard work : responsibility etc for not much less pay?

I'm a retail manager and when the minimum wage rises I will be on the same as my Deputy. I work in the charity sector, they can't afford the MW increase so no chance of me getting an increase too.

I had a similar situation in my previous job (also charity sector) and I ultimately left because of it. If you don't take a stand on it then it won't change. You have to push back.

I work in a qualified job, requires an annual paid registration with a governing body and I'm busy from the minute I get there until I leave.
I currently get £11ph and that is after changing jobs earlier this year for more money. It's the same rubbish pay across the board.
I've no idea what they are going to do come April but it really needs to be something. I've worked in retail before, and it is easier than my current job and I don't have to pay a fee to do it either.
It's already a very stretched service and it will only get worse if the backbone of the service leave in droves.
