To not want MIL to get DS a chocolate egg.

I am always greatful when people buy things for DS. Unfortunately, he had a load of teeth out at the dentist a little while ago and the dentist said no more sweets. We know he's going to get chocolate eggs from friends of ours but we just squirrel them away or DH buys them off him toi let him go toy shopping. My parents said they'd get him some lego and give him a cardboard egg with wee bits in it (like a pencil, a toy, a couple of pounds). DH went to explain to his mum and his brothers about not giving DS choccie eggs. All his brothers were saying 'no problem, we'll get him an action figure or something'. His mother went in a massive huff going on about how this was obviously my doing and how ungrateful we are. I don't expect anyone to spend money on DS. Last year she bought him an egg that cost £6. You could get a couple of power rangers for that.

I always appreciate anything DS gets as does he but he was so upset after getting his teeth out and has been brilliant about cutting out sweets.

I've got ds (5) a dinosaur egg from Asda. You add water and it hatches and grows. (Assuming it's not a real one!!) It was only £1.

My sil bought dd1 an Easter Egg when she was 18 mos and we had never given her sweets at that point. Dh and I didn't show it to her and ate it ourselves! Oh the things we do for our children.

She is 13 now and has perfect teeth. Which is more than can be said for dh and me.

My kids get lots of chocolate shite. I wouldn't dream of upsetting various well-meaning grandmas. I simply put it in a cupboard, wait a decent amount of time until they've forgotten about it and then save their lovely pearly teeth by eating it myself... Hence all my dentist queries lately on MN (are there any?)

"I wouldn't dream of upsetting various well-meaning grandmas"
personally i'd rather upset well-meaning greandmas who are old enough to understnad than upset a child.
teh poor kid had to get teeth pulled FGS. upset the oldies. they'll bounce back.
