To worry about TTC on honeymoon?

Hi all,

I'm getting married at the start of next summer and we are going to Florida for our honeymoon. We both LOVE Universal and thrill rides, and want to really enjoy what may be our last adults only trip...we likely won't go back for a number of years after this and hope by then to have kids, so want to make the most of our honeymoon trip.

We are hoping to start TTC straight after the wedding/on our honeymoon, as we're both really excited and it already feels like such a long wait to start trying lol. I'm now starting to worry though that it might not be a good idea to TTC whilst on honeymoon as I'd be on rides and drinking (not heavily but a little) for a couple of weeks. I'm not even sure if that would affect anything if I was like 2 days pregnant haha but also scared to risk anything.

Please could you tell me your thoughts on this? AIBU to worry or put off TTC until after the honeymoon? TIA xx

Relationship-wise I'd wait a year anyway. Marriage is a change, pregnancy is a change, a baby is a change. One at a time is easier.

It takes the average healthy couple with no fertility issues a year to conceive. I wouldn't put your life on hold on the off chance you might get pregnant. It also won't affect your pregnancy that early. I drank and acted as normal whe TTC and glad I did as it took 11 months.

This. I think you’re really overthinking it.

Also your fertile days may not be when you’re on honeymoon so it may be impossible for you to get pregnant on honeymoon anyway.

We took 10 months to conceive and I definitely didn’t put my life on hold for those ten months.

If you’d been trying for a while then I’d say maybe be a bit more cautious but given this will literally be month one of trying it seems a bit silly to not enjoy yourself.

Wow, thank you for the responses!! These have made me feel a LOT better - I have a few friends who are TTC and think I got a bit stressed listening to their concerns about day to day stuff and started overthinking it a bit.

Really appreciate the suggestions and advice - and some of these really made me giggle too - @FirstFallopians and @Figment1982 your rollercoaster references in particular!! 🤣

You are overthinking this.

If a very very new pregnancy was prevented from developing after a few cocktails or a go on Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, the human race would’ve died out long ago.

Enjoy yourself- DH and I had the same honeymoon and were heading back for the first time next year, this time with 2 kids. I’m so glad we did it “properly” childfree, as it’ll be a completely different holiday this time!

Absolutely this , my husband and I were in our early 20's when we conceived our first and we always lived life to the fullest . My dad was conceived during the war as were many . You'll be fine ,have fun 😁.

I wouldn't worry, in your second pregnancy you will be skydiving whilst pummelling handfuls of raw beef mince into your mouth

I was pregnant on honeymoon in florida. I kind of new, but I hadn't done a test. I went on all the rides etc. He's 12 the end of the month.
