Would it be a bit vain to do this?

Not a huge deal really but just wanted people’s opinions!
Me and my partner are travelling and currently we are on the other side of the world. We won’t be home for Christmas. We want to send home cards to our family and friends.
I thought of sending them a postcard type card from our location, perhaps a picture of us here saying “merry Christmas from NZ”.
Would this come across a bit narcissistic?! A bit weird to send them a picture of us? Or should we just send an actual postcard?

I guess it’s a little tiny bit boasty but really not that bad. Presumably they know you are travelling anyway? Just don’t go on and on about how amaaazing it is (I might be a tiny bit jealous!!)

For close family and friends I think that's a nice idea.

For casual acquaintances...weird and narcissistic!

Isn't this what most people do on social media all the time?

You could upload pictures to Moonpig online or similar, maybe choose a composite card option, with a selection of photos, nature, scenery, seascapes, shells, wildlife and include pictures of yourselves.

Quick and easy to do, also for multiple recipients (i.e. family but maybe not necessarily friends?)

I would send whatever I would send if I was at home, why overthink it? why would it be vain people travel at all sorts of the time through the year it is not special

the fact you think it is vain is the weirdest bit for me

I got a "thank-you" card for a wedding gift, which was a postcard of the couple on the day. It was a beautiful picture, which I kept, because I like the couple! It's a nice thing to do I think, so long as you know the people relatively well. But I appreciate why you'd wonder - quite a British mentality to worry about something coming across wrong!

Download the Postsnap app. You upload pictures, write a message on the back, put in the address and it’s printed and sent in the UK. You can put a range of photos so maybe a few of the sights and then a small one of yourselves.

I do one every couple of days for my dad in the care home when I’m away ~ he has Alzheimer’s but he can see I’m thinking of him. It’s brilliant and I find people love the personalised element.
