My toddler has won a prize at playgroup for a local activity that we collectively have 0 interest in.
What do you do with the prize… it feels rude to say thanks but give it to someone else.
AIBU to say give it to someone who would use it?

Of course it is fine. How is this even a question?!?!

Bluevelvetsofa · 02/12/2023 14:13

Get him something else and let someone who would welcome it have the benefit.

Birch101 · 02/12/2023 14:13

Just say, thank you please can you pass this on, or pop into a Christmas raffle

Aturtleatemysandwich · 02/12/2023 14:15

“Thanks that’s really kind but unfortunately I don’t think we would use the voucher and wouldn’t want it to go to waste. Can you give it to another nursery family?”

Job done, not rude, perfectly reasonable.

A local activity given as a prize for a toddler - how bad can the activity be?! It must be toddler-friendly, just give it a try? Your toddler might enjoy it.
Otherwise, accept the prize and give it to someone else.

Give to a childrens charity centre that give gifts to children in need.if it’s large or bulky a children’s centre or church playgroup

littlemousebigcheese · 02/12/2023 14:38

What could it possibly be that you have absolutely no interest in?!

Aturtleatemysandwich · 02/12/2023 14:44

Some people lack imagination:

Pottery painting with a hyperactive destructive type child?
Indoor waterpark if no-one in the family can swim?
Tickets to the local medieval re-enactment village if you aren’t interested in history and don’t like being outdoors?
Zookeeper for a day if you’re morally against animals in captivity or your child is terrified of animals?
Football match tickets - I wouldn’t go if it was a World Cup final much less a local team.

If OP isn’t interested then given this is a nursery prize not a carefully selected gift from a beloved relative I can’t see why she wouldn’t just pass it on.

I too am struggling to think of a toddler friendly activity that no-one in a family with a toddler has any interest in? Toddlers are pretty simple creatures so it can't be anything too niche or wild?

SutWytTi · 02/12/2023 15:00

I'd just politely suggest it could be passed on, or donate it as a raffle prize for a future fundraiser.
