To think they can’t have just vanished!?

Right.. I need some help! I’ve either gone completely mental, or I was already completely mental 🤣

I am convinced, like 100% sure, that I bought some outside icicle Christmas lights in the sale last year. I remember being SO excited, because I always asked for them as a kid but we never had any. I finally got my own house, so was super stoked to get some and hang them this year!

Got all the Christmas stuff out of the loft yesterday.. no lights. DH swears there’s no way they’re in the loft. I’ve checked the wardrobes, under the beds, under the stairs, the garage and I cannot find them anywhere. My DC aren’t old enough to move/ hide things I don’t think. So either, I never actually bought them, or someone has been in and taken them!? 🤣

Help me find my Christmas lights guys! Where can then be?

If you bought them before you put your existing decorations away in the loft I am
sure that’s where they are. If your DH only looks with his eyes and not with his hands he will likely have missed them.

If however you bought them after you had put your decorations away I doubt you would have made a special trip to the loft just to put them there. More likely they are still in the car, or in the cupboard under the stairs, spare room, or garage, if you have those spaces.

I hope you find them. I’m sad at the thought of you being excited about something you had wanted for so long and then not being able to find it. Do come back and let us know. We are going shopping for our tree today. I want icicle lights now!

Why do people always suggest the car boot for something that’s not been seen in a year. Surely you all empty your cars for service and MOT, so if something was in there, it would be taken out. Stuff doesn’t sit unnoticed in a car for a year.

It does. They don't look in the boot for an MOT or service do they?

Buy some more, and then the old ones will magically appear.

Agree. My car is a mobile storage unit.

OP, they are in the loft.

GrumpyOldCrone · 02/12/2023 09:25

Another vote for the loft. Whenever anyone says “they can’t be in the kitchen/bathroom/fridge/etc” that’s the place to look.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 02/12/2023 08:25

Have you checked the loft? Just because DH says they can't be there doesn't mean they're not.

This. They may be behind something. Men can struggle with the notion of something being behind something else. I have to assist DH in 'finding' his favourite chutney which he insists on storing in the fridge where it keep vanishing behind other foods.

You still empty the car. Our garage gives the cad a full valet after it’s service so the inside is super clean when it comes back. They don’t if you leave it full of crap.

TheNoodlesIncident · 02/12/2023 11:10

In your case I would think they are probably in plain sight, but you are looking for the wrong thing. You are possibly remembering the packaging differently

I thought this, I had exactly this when I was getting some of my Christmas lights out the loft. They were in a bag and not in a transparent plastic crate as I'd expected. When I started looking at ALL the various containers, I did find them.

It's probably that your DH was expecting the package to look differently, or - and I hate to stereotype - your bloke is rubbish at finding things...

Nonplusultra · 02/12/2023 11:19

Is your dh the kind that can’t find the butter in the fridge if the label is upside down?

Could he go back to the attic and what’s app you so you can see for yourself?

Monsteramagic · 02/12/2023 13:21

So I sent DH back into the attic and had him FaceTime me.. they’re definitely not in there!

Had another good look through my wardrobe, but nothing. You guys are probably right and they’ll turn up when we’ve stopped looking/ are packing this Christmas back down again! I’ll just have to try again in the sales this year and write down where I’ve put them 🤣

Yes just about to say this. He man looked. This reduces looking to things in foreground only. I unfortunately live with 3 of these people. Nothing is ever anywhere until I see it with my magic female eyes.

@Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong I bet you use those eyes-in-your-hands that let you move the first layer of objects to enable your X-ray vision to see past them to objects behind.

IWIllDoItNowInAMinute · 02/12/2023 17:18

Does your DH like Christmas lights? Did he like the icicles? Could he have played a part in them ‘vanishing’?

pastypirate · 02/12/2023 17:22

I found something I thought I'd lost for we inside something I never use once.

Did you put anything back in the loft around the same time and they have been packed in there? Suitcase?

Unless I do it myself with loft stuff I risk things being placed together that are things like a camping stove and the Easter decorations.....

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 02/12/2023 17:22

Are you sure you didn't just do that thing where you imagined yourself buying them so many times, that you think you did, when you didn't? Do you have any objective evidence you own these lights, like photos? Does anyone else remember them 😁

Jackfrostnippingatmynose · 02/12/2023 17:29

They are with the missing grandfather clock chains 👻
Check the boot of your car?

HamstersAreMyLife · 02/12/2023 17:42

I did this a couple of years ago with some fairy lights. Mine were in the dining room dresser/unit thing. Found them as serving up new years day dinner 🙄

Butteredtoast55 · 02/12/2023 17:52

You need to ask St Antony to help you. He will find them for you!
