To not pay hairdresser?

Had my hair done last week, the result was ok but not really what I wanted, first time I’ve been to that hairdresser and knew I likely wouldn’t go back.

It was cheaper than I thought and I did ask her if that was it and she checked it and said yes (for reference she still got paid £150 for a trim and full head of highlights).

She’s now messaged me to say she undercharged me and I owe her another £100. I just think I didn’t like what you did and it’s her fault she didn’t calculate it properly as it asked her to check the amount 🤷‍♀️

It's the hairdressers time and skill you are paying for. I paid £200 for a cut and full head of highlights but I was in the salon for 7 hours.

That still seems cheap even for men! My husband pays £60 for his (admittedly he goes to what I’d call an overpriced hairdresser in the NW but he’s very fussy about what he has). Hair is so expensive these days but I used to pay over £200 in zone 2 London for a balayage, toner, Olaplex, cut and blow dry. In fancy part of NW it’s closer to £150.

What?? I'd be happy to travel to zone 2 for this from the SW. Similar here at upmarket salon is £400+

Glo Fulham was where I went. The prices have gone up since I moved and depends if you want a full or half head balayage but ‘Half head Balayage, Toner with Haircut & Blow Dry’ is £225

I understand that if it's complex and here's where I reveal my unfulfilled ambition, I wanted to be a hairdresser once I started to visit the local collage with my wife to model for students and teachers....here s my one claim to fame. The world hairdressing champion once cut my hair. So I spent time watching what was going on to the extent that the head of the department offered me a place on the course.

So I understand the overheads (excuse the pun) but the op had a cut and colour. The hairdressers would be paying at most £10 for the colour and foils/brushes etc. Add £5 for heat water and £20 for use of the premises for, and again I will go over, the.2 hours the OP was there. That's £35 cost. And they want £215 labour for 2 hours work. Bearing in mind the stylist may well be working on more than one client at a time and a junior could well be taking care of the washing of the hair and perhaps assisting with the foils.

£150 is more than enough.

The price of all good beauty stuff has gone up in the last year though. I stopped getting my nails done as it became extortionate and I can do gels at home. Sadly don’t want to risk trying to bleach my own hair!

You queried it at the time, and were advised it was correct, so I don't think you should pay any more
If you're not happy with the cut and/or colour then vote with your feet and don't return (if there are plenty of other local options).

£250?! The only salons I know that would charge around that figure for full head highlights, cut and finish would be the well known salons/big names.
