Possibly wasting an appointment

Hi,

I feel awfully scared but I've a gynae appointment coming up for a problem which seems to have disappeared after a year later. I don't know why but I'm 100% glad its gone but fearful it may return which I don't want to think about. I just have a feeling if they were to rescan me they might find nothing and is it better to be upfront or will this leave me in an as worse position of not knowing the why's and if it returns I have to go through the process again.

I also appreciate it a waste of the nhs's money, (I admit there is a lot of back story and it is complicated)

I also have another issue potentially which is on the medical record in recent weeks and due to see the GP and I'm wondering if the gynae team might blurt out (blame it) before I've had chance to discuss this with the GP. (but then the gp surgery have been known to worry me before and it's been nothing)

Anyone been so close to getting seen at the hospital then a turn of situation.

Call them and tell them your concerns. They will let you know if you need to go out not. Given how long wait times are I'm sure this comes up a lot.

MatildaTheCat · 29/11/2023 13:34

Is the second issue related to your original problem?

I would be inclined to go to the appointment and explain your symptoms have cleared up and can they confirm this/ is it likely to come back/ anything you can do to prevent this?

If your new issue is gynae related you can mention this. If it’s something else then obviously they can’t help.

NotEvenThought · 29/11/2023 13:40

I'd phone and ask. I wouldn't go if the symptoms have cleared up and the Doctors didn't think I necessary. It would be wasteful and pointless.

Crazylady2023 · 29/11/2023 19:57

I have no idea whether they are linked. I just know I'm fed up.

I typed the gynae problem into a uro support one and my jaw dropped when results come back that you could actually suffer both so I'm confused ; one requires a gynae, the other a Urologist.

I was admitted to a hospital in January 2023 who lost all blood tests apparently taken because I had an emergency band number on rather than my full nhs number. And of course, that is ok.

Have you been referred to an NHS gynecologist?

princefamilypaper · 29/11/2023 20:35

I would go, if you call you'll speak to a receptionist who won't be able to tell you

DonnaTellHer · 29/11/2023 21:02

You've been referred, go to the appointment. If a scan is involved, you can't guess the outcome of what will show up. I hope all is ok.

That's not true.

If you call you will speak to outpatient appointments, if necessary, they can put you through to the obs & gynae secretary.

Definitely attend for peace of mind, you've waited almost a year and you are perfectly entitled to an appointment.

Waiting for a referral from a GP os long winded.

Pippu · 29/11/2023 21:16

I don't see the point in phoning as you won't speak to a clinician only an admin or med sec.
I acthave a similar dilemma. Referred by GP to gynae. Gynae referred me on to urologist. I finally have an appointment and my symptoms have cleared up.

If you don't know what caused the symptoms or why they appear to have (temporarily?) resolved, you still need the appointment and should attend.

It's what the NHS is for, it's not a waste.
