To worry about SC being raised around a stepfather that hits their dog?

I have SC and the youngest has started being violent at school. The only violence I am aware of him seeing is their stepdad hitting and shouting at their dog, which they tell us about often. What, if anything, can we do about it?

May be an overkill but the NSPCC. RSPCA, Blue Cross, Women's Aid and the Young Abusers Project and the Association of Chief Police Officers produced this leaflet.

I'd also be worried about the child being around a dog that is being abused

I don’t think the dog is being beaten to the extent of lasting injuries, but is being treated harshly. I don’t know where else SS could be exposed to violence. Because of the history, older SC are very reluctant to tell us anything that could be construed as negative about their other home, so I don’t think there’s more to it, but can’t tell.

Id report at least to rspca, an abused dog is highly likely to become fear aggressive so putting the children at risk. I also think that witnessing this would teach the children that violence and aggression are okay. Plus I believe there is a proven link between cruelty to animals becoming cruelty to humans.

He's violent and aggressive towards the dog because he's a violent and aggressive man and yes, I would be very worried.
