What are the differences between gin and gin liqueur?

I think the alcohol percentage is lower but how are you supposed to drink a gin liqueur in comparison to gin?

I drink pink gin and lemonade - could I do the same with a gin liqueur?

Gin liqueur basically has sugar syrup in to make it sweet and have less alcohol. I don’t like it in comparison to gin, but if you like a sweet drink you can mix it with tonic as you would a normal gin, or just have it straight over ice.

I think a liqueur is sweeter with a thicker consistency (could be wrong). If you drink gin with lemonade you must already like sweet drinks, so just use lemonade as your mixer.

Or, just put a couple of ice cubes in and drink it neat

You can drink it however you like. There's no rule. Generally it's less potent but has a stronger flavour so tends to be drunk near or over ice. They can be good as a base for an aperitif topped up with cava or prosecco

About 20%

Its much sweeter and usually fruit flavoured. But yes, if you like sweet things you could have it with lemonade

Same as folk have said, it's just the spirit with extra sugar and flavour added.

They're usually half the strength of the spirit itself so I wouldn't normally drink them with a mixer on their own - unless you're mostly interested in flavour and not so much the strength.

They tend to work best as an addition to cocktails or to add to Prosecco, Champagne etc. Same way folk sometimes throw a shot of Chambord into a glass of prosecco. Using it that way means you get the flavour but don't sacrifice getting pissed!

Gin liqueurs are liqueurs made from gin with other things added - usually something sweet like sugar syrup and additional flavourings.

Gin liqueur is to gin what Drambuie is to whisky, basically - a sweeter, less alcoholic drink with the base flavour of the original spirit.
