To start wearing wigs

For fashion reasons. Natural hair is curly, frizzy, fine and unmanageable. Never looks sleek or polished. If straightened it sits flat and limp. Also don’t have much time to maintain/go to the hairdresser. AIBU to start wearing wigs? Bought a few cheap wigs in different colours online and actually wore one out and had loads of compliments about my “hair” which I never have. Is it just a bit weird to wear different wigs or does no one care these days?

You can't possibly be unreasonable as it's your head.

I'm surprised anyone thought a cheap wig was your natural hair though, as even some really expensive ones don't look real. It's something to do with the light/shine I think.

Both my Mum and I have worn wigs over the years - mid price, due to alopecia. Both of us have had complements and people were surprised if we said it was a wig.

I was in wigs when I was having chemo. At first I got a really expensive one as close to my own hair as possible. It looked stupid. So then I decided to go all out and try lots of different styles and colours. It was lots of fun and I didn't mind going without either. Wrap them up with scarves and hats and embrace the theatrical.

What I discovered (because it opened the conversation) was that lots of people wear wigs or hair pieces for various reasons and loads are not medical.

Also - men are hilarious in their response. They would see me with cropped hair then the next day with long blonde hair and tell me really admiringly that my hair was great blonde.

Hair extensions would look natural, use Slavic hair. Go to Dee at Understated London. Say Patrón Lover sent you

I would love to be like Moira Rose but I want something natural looking but I haven't got the £££ for natural 😂

It's your head and your choice. I would say though don't go for too cheap a wig. I have alopecia and when it's really bad I just shave my head and wear wigs. (In fact right now that's the case) There's a huge difference between the ten quid ones off Amazon and something like simply wigs.
