I have two DD's with ex, separated 6 years. He had fortnightly contact and was giving £100 every other week. He has made a stupid decision which means he can't have DD's on the weekends anymore.
I know there are some women who don't get any support and I'm grateful for what I get but I don't think it's enough. I don't know how much he earns but I don't work because DD's needs are quite demanding.
AIBU to ask for more money?

It only depends on his salary op, which we don't know. Presume CMS can find out if you don't know it.

Do your children have SN - I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Sounds like they're school age so it's unclear from your post why you don't work.

CornishGem1975 · 28/11/2023 13:37

Go through CMS.

Flamingogirl08 · 28/11/2023 14:18

It's based on what he earns so its impossible to say really.

sosomcsoso · 28/11/2023 14:26

So he's giving you £200 a month for 2 kids? That's basically £25 a week per child

CMS is the way forward

Crayfishhe · 28/11/2023 14:39

A stupid decision as in…?

Nobody can say if he’s paying enough as it depends on his salary. You could get a job when your daughters are at school?

HeckyPeck · 28/11/2023 14:42

YANBU to ask for more money.

Do you know what kind of job he works so you could get a ballpark figure?

It might be worth going through CMS as he'll have no choice but to tell them his earnings.

ellie09 · 28/11/2023 14:47

CMS can find out his salary through his national insurance number and then calculate and send the correct amount to you every month directly from his wage.

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/11/2023 14:56

CMS

Arthurnewyorkcity · 28/11/2023 15:17

Go through cms if he's employed. He's paying very little but of course it could reduce if he's only earning a small wage or on benefits. If your daughter has additional needs consider claiming dla

tomatoontoast · 28/11/2023 15:19

Go through CMS

TeaKitten · 28/11/2023 15:20

It just depends on his salary, so go through CMS.

sparkellie · 28/11/2023 15:21

As long as he is employed I would make a claim through cms.

Thewondererhasreturned · 28/11/2023 15:32

There is an online calculator of what you would be entitled to through cms but you would need to roughly know his salary and input how many overnights the kids are with him. If he has a 50k+ job its probably not enough. I get 100 a month from ex for 1 dc his avg salary is 1500 a month. Prior to this it was 40 hes only increased his hours so be careful as you may end up losing money depending on how much he earns they may calculate it as being less. Always worth a shot asking him though with cost of living. Is he the type you can talk to or the type who would say your being greedy etc thats what mines like so I go through cms.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/11/2023 16:10

Go through CMS

What did he do that mean he isn’t seeing them?

YorkshirePuddingBelongs · 28/11/2023 16:11

Just go through CMS

greencheetah · 28/11/2023 16:14

Like everyone else said, go through CMS. It’s the only way with someone like this.
