to think this woman is sick

Took dd to the swimming pool this morning at 9am as we were in the showers I over heard a child (looked about 4) tell her mum she needed the toilet, and the woman said "its ok just wait until we are in the pool"

YUCK!!!! surely the reason for the chlorine in the water etc is for accidents NOT for deliberately using the pool as a piss house?

lol, did you go 'ewwww' really loud so she could hear you?

LyraSilvertongue · 13/03/2008 10:53

You should have glared at her.

peanutbear · 13/03/2008 10:53

Lomond · 13/03/2008 10:54

I'm sorry I would have said something.. 'I'd really rather not have my son swimming in your LO's wee, thanks!'

Kianna · 13/03/2008 10:59

I suppose I should be grateful she didnt tell her to wee in the showers then it would have gone on my foot.

I used to go aquarobics/swimming on wednesday evening but someone pointed out that the local scout troup go in just before us, and the water is 'a few degrees warmer' when they get out.

GAAAAK!

fordfiesta · 13/03/2008 11:02

I guess it is something most kids do....... but dont think they really need any encouragement!!!
My nan used to tell me the water would turn blue if i pee'd in it and was terrifed to piddle in the pool then!!!!!

Kianna · 13/03/2008 11:02

yuck captain.

are they not in the kids pool?

the chlorine only hurts your eyes if there is a lot of urine in it apparently [yuck]

LyraSilvertongue · 13/03/2008 11:42

I once got in a jacuzzi where I suspect the man in it before me had peed in it. It went all frothy and the chlorine smell was very strong. I got straight out again. Yuk.

captainmummy · 13/03/2008 11:53

Kianna - they are not in the kiddies pool on account of them being 11+. They play waterpolo/volleyball and generally mess about. It's great for them, but not so fab for us.

FF - I was told the water would turn blue too, and trail along behind you.

madamez · 13/03/2008 14:50

I was told the water would turn red so everyone could see who had piddled in the pool.

Mind you, I did rather lose faith in this myth when I got startled mid swim once, widdled a bit and was not immediately and publicly humiliated... I wonder if this is atually one of those useful myths of childhood?

lollipopmother · 13/03/2008 14:54

In Australia they do actually do that, or so I've heard anyway.

bigbumhole · 13/03/2008 15:22

nothing wrong with a bit of pee-pee, builds up your immunity

branflake81 · 13/03/2008 15:33

I think that's an urban myth.

lollipopmother · 13/03/2008 15:33

Doctors used to drink wee to test for diabetes, I'm sure a couple of glugs of chlorinated wee won't do too much harm!

musicgirl · 13/03/2008 15:36

Lollipopmother - where the hell did you hear that? In Australia, most people have swimming pools, with a sign stating "I don't swim in your toilet so please don't piss in my pool".

bergentulip · 13/03/2008 15:58

What? The water doesn't change colour? It's a myth? That means I'll get away with it.... and I've been wasting my time all along by bothering to get out and walk to the loos?.....

Indith · 13/03/2008 16:10

Lol

My mum worked as an aupair to my cousins, she once told one of them to go in the pool. He got out, pulled his shorts down and did a wee into the pool

That story even made it into the speeches at his wedding.

captainmummy · 13/03/2008 16:11

in the hotel we stayed at for our honeymoon there was a pool with a bar in the middle - you know, like you have in your fantasies/daydreams. And they had a sign saying 'Welcome to our OOL - please note there is no 'P' in it!'

lollipopmother · 13/03/2008 16:14

Musicgirl Nooooo don't tell me it's not true?! I always thought it really did happen in Australia, but that in good old GB we didn't have the technology (hangs head in shame!).

MoreSpamThanGlam · 13/03/2008 16:18

I used to have a hot tub in my garden. The hut tub man (phwoar - but thats another story)told me to never ever use a public jacuzzi - thae water is seldom changed, just always topped up with lots and lots of chemicals and the filters get clogged with body lotions and dead skin (gack!!!)
