Water to flush out hormones from miscarriage?

I was with a friend the other day, she trainer/ nutritionist but I don't go to her gym just meet up every few weeks, we are friends from school. So she didn't give me advice in a professional capacity just a friend one.

I told her I had an early miscarriage a few weeks ago and she said to make sure I drank lots of water in order to 'flush' the MC hormones out of my system.

I haven't done biology since GCSE but I don't think that's the way it works. Or is it? It doesn't sound right to me and google isn't helping. It's my 4th MC and I don't remember being told that before.

YABU - Water will flush it out
YANBU - That's not how it works.

Drinking plenty of water makes it easier for the GIT to function well, and for the liver to do it's job. Excess hormones are metabolised by the liver and excreted in urine and faeces, so although it's not flushing out in the sense of washing out, it's not unreasonable advice that drinking plenty of water will help your system to metabolise and excrete excess hormones.

I had a health professional advise me to make sure I was eating plenty of fibre to help my body rid itself of excess hormones for a different issue.

I'm sorry for your miscarriage.

(Edited to clarify drinking plenty of water)

Drinking plenty of water will help your general health, and will help you feel a bit better than being dehydrated especially if you’ve been very upset.

it won’t actually sort your hormones directly though. I’m sorry for you to be experiencing this.

@Grimchmas thanks, that actually does make sense. I have a large cup I drink from and would guess I drink about 2.5 to 3 litres of water per day

That's plenty of water then. I wouldn't drink more than that expecting it to help.
